Can't say I'm surprised this is in the bottom heap as I've heard lots of people say this is Madonna's worst single. I love the sound of the sound of the song but the lyrics are rather questionable! Wouldn't say it deserves to be last place, but like I say, it's no shock that it is considering the very low scores it received. Still, it's not totally hated as it was in fact given a 10!

I can't even remember how this goes! :lol: I've very rarely heard it so it's obviously not up there with my favourites! Got a fair few decent scores from most - it's not too bad when you actually listen to it - but the occasional below 5 scores and the two no votes keeps it in the bottom heap.

Can't say I've been too impressed by any of the versions of 'Fever' I've heard so naturally this is my least favourite single taken from Erotica - bit of an outrage that this has outsold the brilliant 'Bad Girl'. Thankfully, 'Bad Girl' is quite comfortably ahead in this countdown since 'Fever' received many average and low scores.

Another song I barely listen to - I usually skip it when listening to Something to Remember - but Madonna's voice seemed quite strained when I listened to rate it; doesn't make it very easy to listen. But ignoring that, it's an alright track and like those above, received many decent scores among the low ones.

Liam you need to listen to another suitcase, it is wonderful !!!

Not been too fussed about the songs gone already and I can't say I'm fussed about this lot either. Some tracks on Erotica I can't get enough of and then there's others which I won't give a second thought about unless I listen to the album. This is an example of the latter. Still, seems to be liked by a fair few here, receiving four 8s, as well as disliked.

I think this is the Madonna song I dislike the most. I like the instrumental, more than I thought when I listed to this before the vote - was quite generous giving it a four to be honest. But as a whole, the song drags on too long and is very hard to appreciate. I suppose it sounds similar to the Ray of Light stuff which is a positive, but the stuff on there is far from boring! Very surprised to see this received an 11 and a 10. Really though? :(

Only released in the US, Canada and Japan (also as a double A-side in Australia with 'Vogue'), 'Keep It Together' is another one of my most disliked. Don't think it's very single worthy, I'd have much rather 'Oh Father' and 'Dear Jessie' to have both been released everywhere as fourth and fifth and forget about this final track. Split opinions again for this one.

I like this more than the rest of the single gone, wasn't sure whether to go for a 7 or 6 for this but I went with the latter due to the fact I never listen to this by choice. Not a bad song though, not sure how many people will recognise it despite the 3 million people who own The Immaculate Collection.

Think I should be listed as 'Highest Rate' for 'Bedtime Story', as I gave it an 11? It really is a sublime track, the Nellee Hooper production is gorgeous, brilliant mixture of a low funk beat and electro production.

Yes, you're right! (I even mentioned the 11 in the commentary :drama:) Seems I was right to pick up on the Ray of Light sound - co-writer of 'Bedtime Story', Marius De Vries, produced some tracks on that album, although surely for there to be similarities, surely she must have helped produce 'Bedtime Story'?

Eek at the sublime Rescue Me and Bedtime Story missing the top 20.

First song that I properly like. 'This Used to Be My Playground' was recorded during the Erotica sessions and appears as the theme to A League of Their Own, but unfortunately the song appears on neither album/soundtrack despite it being a big hit. On top of that, it was never performed live so it remains quite forgotten today. :(

A cover of the #2 hit from Rose Royce in the 70s, 'Love Don't Live Here Anymore' featured on Like a Virgin and a remix later appeared on the ballads compilation Something to Remember. Can't say I've heard the original but I love Madonna's version, really wish it was given a full release, even if it may not have done that well if the lack of success preceding single 'One More Chance' received. Seems to liked by several people here, although unfortunately a load of 5s and two no votes means this beauty just scrapes the Top 20.

This is more popular than I thought it was! Not a track I take much notice of usually but I liked it when listening to it before rating. Madonna was 8 months pregnant in the video for this and, as far as I'm aware, was Madonna's first Oscar win (perhaps her only?) as she won Best Original Song.

Another theme song and another one I rarely listen to. 'I'll Remember' was an attempt of winning back fans after the controversial Erotica album and Sex book. It seemed to work too as it was highly praised by critics, was a #2 hit in the US (higher peak than all the [Erotica singles), and was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Grammy.

It's funny how madonna 's ballad singles were so successful in the 90's !!!

I liked this more than I seemed to remember, although it's still nearer the bottom in terms of my ranking of Madonna's singles. Just like 'Express Yourself', the video for this later inspired Xtina's 'Not Myself Tonight' which I'd choose over this any day. :ph34r:

For me, this is quite easily the best track on Erotica. :wub: Brilliant lyrics and video, big injustice that it's one of Madonna's worst sellers. Generally liked here on Buzzjack, but I'd have liked to see more 9s+. :D

Lead single from perhaps Madonna's least remembered album, Bedtime Stories, 'Secret' is another well liked single here since it received nothing lower than a 6 if you excuse the one 3. I never used to like this, but then it suddenly clicked with me and now it's one of my favourites from the 90s!

If 'Bad Girl' is the best on Erotica, then this is quite comfortably second! Very beautiful song, quite similar to 'Stay' by Shakespeare's Sister in places and, of course, so very forgotten in the whole of Madonna's discography.

Secret is majestic :wub: Probably should have given it a 10 given it's miles ahead of everything else on the album.

Bedtime Story, Sanctuary and Love Tried To Welcome Me are all much better. On a good day I'd put Human Nature and Sanctuary above it too, I've always found Secret to be rather BLAH. Though bar the 5 songs above pretty much the rest of the album is too.

It may only have a peak of #16, but 'Take a Bow' is probably the most remembered from Bedtime Stories and it's also deservedly the highest placed single from that album. Not actually sure why it under-performed, especially since 'Bedtime Story' and 'Human Nature' both managed to make the Top 10.

I used to have the same opinion too, in fact I think it was only this year that it actually clicked with me. One thing I've always thought though is that Madonna has never looked better than she does in this video! *.*

I think I would have preferred 'Justify My Love' to be ahead but I suppose it's no surprise for 'Erotica' to be in front instead due to its lyrics being more melodic than 'Justify My Love''s spoken ones. This is another which only clicked with me this year; I especially like the "give it up, do as I say" verse, especially the sped up version in the Madonna Megamix by Robin Skouteris.

Didn't realise it was a well-liked as this countdown has shown mind.

Very pleased to see this in the Top 10, definitely one of Madonna's best vocal performances. Thankfully the no votes from Casey and THEO. (get it listened to!) didn't prevent this from entering high, thanks to the big number of 9+ rates. 'You'll See' was the lead single from ballad compilation Something to Remember but unfortunately, it was also the only successful single. :(

Critics and fans alike feel this is the biggest omission from the Celebration compilation and, considering it's the highest placed Erotica single, it seems to be the case here too. It's certainly a standout track on an album which couldn't be more further away from dance in general, but all the same very worthy of being on Erotica. Lots of 9s and 8s were given for this, and the fact it is one of very few songs to have received a vote by every member who took part obviously pointed in its favour.
