Germany have confirmed their participation in Eurovision 2014 and their national broadcaster have announced details of their national final:

NDR, the German national broadcaster has announced that the 2014 German Eurovision national final Eurovision Song Contest 2014 - Unser Song für Dänemark will be held on March 13 at the Lanxess Arena in Koln.

The 2014 Eurovision German national final will be aired live on 13 March at 20.15 CET on ARD. The show will be a co-production between NDR and Brainpool. More details regarding Unser Song für Dänemark will be released in due course.

I believe it will be the same format in 2014 that they used in 2013. Germany have had fantastic national selection shows recently with the X-Factor style format with Lena and Roman Lob and the fantastic arena show that Cascada won last year, so I'm looking forward to this! I don't think any country has been as consistently brilliant as Germany in the last few years so I'm excited for their next entry!

Last year's selection was quite good and I loved how huge it was. If only Blitzkids had won! :drama:

Cascada were easily my favourites last year of course, but my other favourites in the national final were Betty Dittrich, Saint Lu and Mia Diekow if I remember correctly so hopefully some of those may return in 2014!

7 of the participants in this national final have now been announced!

The following seven musicians and bands have been chosen by an expert commission involving the biggest German record companies, the public broadcaster NDR, and the production company Brainpool:

Das Gezeichnete Ich

Madeline Juno

MarieMarie

Oceana

Santiano

The Baseballs

Unheilig

The eighth participant of the national final will be a young talent, chosen through an online platform and a subsequent club concert.

Such a penis-fest.

Elaiza to win plz

Haha shouldn't turn your nose up at a room full of penis XD

I'm not sure which I like the most yet - oceana seems to have good vocals and MarieMarie defiantly seems like an artist I'd like but her clips seem like the lyrics of her songs are a big crappy. I

The baseballs are really not to my taste but apparently they are very big acrosd Europe? So could be a wise choice for Germany to send them.

Unheilig and Santiago wouldn't work internationally IMO and Das Gezeichnete Ich is a bit of a mouthful ;p Madeline Juno is average/ skater boi sounding.

Wildcard entry doesn't have the best vocals but songs sound nice enough.

Yeah, but old and/or Elvis-impersonator penis isn't something I have a great interest in :(

wot. I thought the live vocals were pretty fab! :o

I'm thinking Madeline Juno's 'Like Lovers Do' is the best song here and the one that'll give them the biggest hit. However, they'll probably send Unheilig.

I absolutely love Madeline's song 'Error' and 'Like Lovers Do' is great too, hopefully she can do well but from what I've read it is nearly a guaranteed victory for Unheilig.

Well unheilig was huge when i lived there so i imagine him getting lots of votes but he is bound to flop at eurovision.

I don't see the point in performing a different song in the second round but it should make for a interesting watch.

This is how the uk should do it. I love that they are singing more than one song because the public might like an artist but not like their song so this gives more option to find a perfect song.

The baseballs have had a hit in the uk?!

Well so far I haven't liked anyone's first songs so I'm not holding out much hope for the second songs.

I f***ing hate rockabilly.

They had a top 5 album in 2009 iirc!
