May 10, 201411 yr ^^ Would a known artist touch Ireland ESC though? I think the semi's would put some off representing the country if they didn't get through?
May 11, 201411 yr RTE are scrapping the mentor system for next years Eurovision. Will be interesting to see where it goes from here. There seems to be a lot of talk about getting professional songwriters and presenting our song better on stage.
May 12, 201411 yr Imelda May is too big for Eurovision. It would be a great coup for Ireland if they persuaded her to do it but i can not see it happening.
May 13, 201411 yr RTE really need to invest in picking a song, and done well it would get large audiences which RTE want. The mentor system did good with Jedward but last year and this year it flopped. I always felt Eoghan Quigg should have went through over Kasey and he would have qualified although would not have bothered the top 10 in the final. Jedwards lipstick was the nearest thing to putting Ireland back on the Eurovision map, there was a buzz about Ireland and we need that back.
May 13, 201411 yr I feel like the only chance we'd have of getting Imelda May to do it is if we got a professional songwriter to write the song. (or let her write, or at least co-write the song) I doubt she'd sing any old song presented to her. There's 3 things that are hugely important: The Song The Singer The Presentation If even one of them is bad or even just ok/nice we might as well forget about it. It's all or nothing. June 29, 201410 yr Author Apparently RTÉ are seriously considering using The Hit as our selection format. As shaky as the show is, it does produce some decent songs and I think it would be worth a try. VUsMHSlwwG0 QOYkOByVmjs
