I found Jolene an interesting one too, but for different reasons. If I were to think of Dolly it's most certainly not the first song I'd think of (9 to 5 for example is far more obvious and also Islands In The Stream) but also it seems like such an ODD choice. I know I've been pretty awful at guessing what will/wont do well in this of late but it just seems such a random choice to me. Then again I've never been a fan of the song so perhaps that's just totally clouding my judgement.
I'm surprised it got through at all! Maybe it didn't rack up 25 points but I'm sure there can't be many people taking part here that haven't heard Jolene before! That said, it does stick out and throw a curveball into the mix, I have no idea how it will do. Low top 20 in the final is my guess.

I could easily see 'Jolene' going top 5. Similar to when Camdonia sent 'You've Got A Friend In Me' by Randy Newman.

I've just realised why 'Tsunami' sounded familiar, it was one of Tim's potentials wasn't it! I can't remember what I said about it the first time but I'm pretty sure I gave it a better review when voting than when I listened to it for Tim oops (the Espen tag clearly subconsciously influencing me). Though I do still prefer 'Shotgun' so at least I'm not entirely inconsistent.

Espen's song was my contender for a sec too, the build-up in it is immense but it just explodes to nowhere.
That's now 5 people who have been after 'Tsunami' to some extent - cheap Cal!

Make that 6

jolene: I think its fair to say it's a classic, well-known, and would easily win if buzzjack were a public vote. In terms of on here in 2013, well winners tend to be classy indie/edm or dance diva pop and it's neither category, so no chance of course of winning. I'm not sure how i'll vote for it if it makes the final - I didnt give any at all to TLC and thats a great record!

My preference so far is for indie-ish tracks over diva-ish dance tracks (though not always) but I enjoy seeing my votes (and everyone else's of course) make the difference between winning and coming second - 3 times so far this year - I feel much more invested in the final than a clear winner that doesnt excite me and it's good to feel needed

Unless you have me down already Bré, Tsunami was even on my shortlist!

This is just getting silly now! Nu Faye.

For the record:

Espen

Hendinia

Botanikka (apparently tried to send it without realising they were banned)

Yehesi

Ingermanlandia

Cadelicia

Fljótavík

...and Jubel was my other back up actually, I imagine a fair few people had that on their consideration lists?

And only now have I realised that I completely forgot all about my back up for the previous 3 contests and could have actually sent that this time. Gah.

Never did I ever expect so many people to be after the same song as me

And on my list. -_-

And that's quite a mixed pack of countries (preferred genre-wise)! Really weird.

Edit: I'm about Tsunami.

Edit2: I imagine Cal's reaction to it.

Contrary to seemingly everyone else, I don't think one song has been entered this time I have ever considered sending myself. I'm so out of the loop. But then, it's always easier to vote when I don't have any pre-conceived notions about the songs.

I had no idea EVERYONE wanted Tsunami, it doesn't seem the type to attract as many as it has.

Will be interesting to see how many points Tsunami gets from all of the interested countries. I'd noticed it floating around the charts of lots of different countries and listened to it and although I really like it, it didn't scream 'send' to me. I'd have assumed this is on course for a similar sort of result to Animals but then there seem to be a lot of people here that wanted to send it so a potential top 3 it is!

I've finished listening through and Semi 2 is packed with gems, about 12-15 fantastic songs! Semi 1 less so, there are 6 great songs in there imo, however the best song in there is a brilliant discovery!
