I know which two mine are and I'm hoping they may have both squeezed into the top 10.

20 Aeroche // Ain't No Love - Love Me Lots (Bridge & Law Remix)

19 Skall // Christopher Tin - Baba Yetu (feat. Soweto Gospel Choir)

18 Cadelicia // Tielsie - Palette

'Beautiful' may have been the most popular of the PC Music tracks this year but my personal fave has to be the offering from Tielsie, 'Palette' is such a perfect title for the song as it is easily the most COLOURFUL song entered all year. Like a mixture of Rustie 'Surph' / Wave Rocker 'Rock U Tonite' (for they are the same song) and the aforementioned 'Beautiful' but 10x more intense. Should have been a winner. More euphoric dance comes from Ain't No Love with a song filled to the brim with hooks from the LMFAO-esque rap-talk verses to the whistley instrumental riffamajig. Then from an entirely different world of music we have Christopher Tin who managed to turn the actual Lord's Prayer into an absolutely gorgeous piece of art with a bit of help from the Soweto Gospel Choir - 'Baba Yetu' even ended up snagging a Grammy nomination. It's not an official video but the 'Planet Earth' visuals which accompanied the song in the contest only add more to its beauty, if you only listened to the mp3 at the time I IMPLORE you to have a watch of the video above.

Imma let you finish but Ain't No Love have one of the BEST songs here. Even #20 is too low. 'Your Soul' too

I still have a song in you top 17. This stanning o~

17 Cadelicia // AutoLaser - IKNOW

16 Elëdan // Ryan Hemsworth and Hachioji-P - Fukayomi (Hatsune Heater Version)

15 Aeroche // Orbital - Wonky (feat. Lady Leshurr)

This section sponsored by high pitched noises, be they computer-generated Japanese female human vocals or the mewing of possessed cats. Because those things both appeared in BJSC this year. The former came from Elëdan's autoqualifiers Ryan Hemsworth and Hachioji-P with a total BANGA of a track (who knew kawaii trap would sound so good?) and the latter from Orbital on one of Aeroche's two winners this year, the delightfully insane 'Wonky' which also features a contribution from Lady Leshurr but let's be honest, it's all about those cat vocals. Beautiful. Of course it wasn't ACTUALLY a winner but it would have been if one of the other countries in this section had actually checked their votes before sending (and in a satisfying coincidence it would have prevented the win of the other other country here). Bitterness aside Cadelicia were on fine form (most of) this year and AutoLaser narrowly provides their highest placed track here with the BIG sounding trap / dubstep / whatever (Dan help me) anthem 'IKNOW'.

and getting this going again (the list was physically miles away from me for the last few days TBF)

14 New Caprica // Tinashe - Vulnerable (feat. Travi$ Scott)

13 Hendinia // Peking Duk - High (feat. Nicole Millar)

12 Botanikka // TĀLĀ - Alchemy

New Caprica's surprise return (to confirm and NOTHING MORE, for they submitted no votes and have now returned to the mist) would have been little more than an obscure footnote in BJSC history if they didn't provide this BEAST of a song from Tinashe. Female R&B singers don't often tend to be my thing but she just does it so well, with both this moody number with Travi$ Scott and the more upbeat '2 On' being among the highlights of the year for me. I will one day get around to hearing 'Aquarius' lol (I was put off a bit by 'Pretend' which isn't so great) and expect my Tinashe looning to flare up again when that happens. Aside from that we have two songs that sounded very much like winners and both did indeed come relatively close, both coming 3rd, but really SHOULD have both gone all the way - Peking Duk's soaring electronica jam was honestly one of the most instantly winner sounding songs I've ever come across in the contest, sounding like it should have been equally massively appealing to the pop hoes and the more alternative leaning, while TĀLĀ's non-Persephonia outing kept all the intriguing and addictive Middle Eastern-inspired goodness of 'Serbia' while presenting it in a much more accessible package which understandably had slightly wider appeal. In a fit of desperation I actually tried to enter 'Alchemy' myself at the last second but thankfully Addy blocked me from doing so, even though I'd have had a big hit from it I would still have the SHAME of becoming what I hate the most in this contest, a dirty artist recycler.

11 Séyetana // ZHU - Paradise Awaits

10 #00274E // Erkka - Plastic Flamingos

9 D'yermak'er // Oscar And The Wolf - Princes

Annoyingly falling just a little short of the top 10 is the top entry from our neighbours Séyetana, the song that introduced the world most of this website to the quirkiness of ZHU. He'd of course go on to have a surprisingly big UK hit with 'Faded' but the more inspired choice of 'Paradise Awaits' brought the mystery producer to the contest, it could almost be by a different artist really as it's a far more upbeat song and opts for high pitched vocals rather than low. Another to add to the list of songs from the year in the contest that are just too catchy to deny. Into the top 10 we see Erkka, my highlight of the navy blue nation's entries to date with its eargasmically bouncy instrumental hookamajig (as with 'Drone Logic' there's not much to it beyond that but that alone is more than enough to place 'Plastic Flamingos' firmly in my faves of the year). Finally the highest placed DNQ of the year is Oscar And The Wolf with a song I discovered and which only became a BJSC entry because Bal loved it enough to save it from my rejects pile :kink: In truth I only 'rejected' it because I felt it was a little TOO risky and that turned out to be a good call, but still what an absolutely glorious song, you people need to STOP punishing D'yermak'er when they are at their best (pretty sure this is 2 years in a row they've provided the best DNQ of the year after T.H.I.E.F.S in 2013).

Yesssssssss!!! Love that write-up for Zhu (my greatest commercial success obviously - Alyssa Reid/Echosmith who?), shame it couldn't be in your YTD top 10 but to get up this high is great so I'll take that.

8 Syndare // Skogsrå - Now You See Me

7 Zechonia // Widek - The Space Between Us

6 Aeroche // Henry Saiz - All The Evil Of This World

A couple of underrated gems here and one that was rated just fine. Skogsrå didn't get my 12 at the time but in retrospect I so wish he / they / whatever did, with a ~full experience~ of a track, teasing the listener with 3 minutes of :funky: before going all out with the epic climax in the middle part that sounds like an entirely different song, then fading back out with a couple more minutes of :funky: An absolute highlight of the Syndare anthology that really deserves a bit more attention. Then there's Widek who, like Christopher Tin, reaps the benefits of a Planet Earth montage video - I just can't help it, watch it above and tell me it doesn't bring a tear to your eye (the bit around 2 minutes in gets me every time). Video aside, 'The Space Between Us' is just an unspeakably beautiful bit of instrumental rock, not really BJSC material at all so I was beyond pleased to see it make the final. And from a video that reminds me of all the beauty of this world we go to the exact opposite with the vibe-killing as ever Henry Saiz, another very beautious song. Might just be the title but I do feel like I need a bit of a lie down after hearing it, so emo. Thanks for that Leww. In all seriousness though, fab.

The top 5 will be revealed by the end of the weekend - we're still yet to see not one but two tracks from Elëdan (have they got the top 2???) as well as a cut each from N DNTN, Skall and Terra Avium. All 5 of those songs picked up max points from us in their respective finals so no regrets here.

omg such SLAYAGE

$waggot to win plz

Do I have to say anything about this rly. BANGER. I put as much effort into this commentary as Chris does into replying to my PMs.

4 Terra Avium // We Are All Astronauts - Wolves (feat. Ellena Soule)

This song came along in the same contest as 'The Space Between Us' and 'Alchemy' to make up what I think is quite easily my favourite top 3 in a contest ever (as in my top 3, if only they were the overall top 3). It's almost hard to separate this and the Widek track as both of them are just equally beautiful pieces of music. Ultimately decided that I do prefer this out of the two as its appeal is slightly less down to visuals (what with it not having a music video). There's still very little in it though. The way this builds is just UNF. Tears in eyes ~

3 Elëdan // Taquwami - vvi+h You

Elëdan alas don't quite manage to do a 1-2 but they remain in contention for the #1 with their other song. This track is basically the best part of 'フカヨミ' stretched out into an entire song to create one of the most intense and bass-heavy listening experiences of the year, another sorely underappreciated song. This is by far the longest lasting non-Persephonian BJSC track in my personal chart, remaining in my top 10 through to the following contest (where it was in fact joined by Elëdan's next entry :o), I almost feel tempted to re-enter it now as it's had a resurgence in being stuck in my head the last week or so. Nonetheless I still rank two songs above it. But which two???

Mr.Kitty and Phoria. Those are the two. But who's won? :o

2 Skall // Phoria - Emanate

Settling for runner-up we have one final underappreciated gem of the contest, and another absolute beaut of a track (if this top 10 tells you anything it's that to appeal to me, it's beauty or banger-ness, no in between ~) This track had pretty much sealed my full support already 17 seconds into my first listen with the first drop of its smooth electronic production. Then in came the vocals and I was even more sold than I already was. Then the gradual build up to the middle part which can be described only as MAJESTIC. Pretty much perfection in a song.

takin credit for that one too as was planning on sending it it til harve stepped in (and saved me from a flop) !

1 Elëdan // Mr.Kitty - Destroy Me

And so that just leaves us with this, my very favourite BJSC entry of the year (I even prefer it to all but one of my own entries - sorry you can't touch 'Cry For Freedom' but very few things can) and it's something extremely depressing! Hooray! Slightly ill-fitting with the rest of the top 10 bar maybe Henry Saiz but that's just the way things go. Nonetheless, I described 'Emanate' as perfection, but it still cannot compete with this which is some sort of über perfection. I can't put into words how much I adore this song so I'm just going to cop out and use the 'it speaks for itself' line again, I hope you'll forgive me Pavel. It's also the only BJSC entry to ever reach #1 in my personal chart (again excluding my own, although even only 3 of those have got there), spending two weeks at the top spot.

Is this how people felt about 'Sulk'? Cos yeah I still don't get that but if it is then I sorta do get it. But not really.
