Is it?

It's business. They have to sell their product. If they have an album coming out and are short for promotional opportunities then a signing is a logical answer. If one member can't make the signings, then the best they can do is have four people do the signings and have the fifth member sign their sleeves in advance. It's no big deal. As long as the fans know Frankie won't be there and that her signature is still on the sleeves then there's no issue. It'll still have all five signatures. It's better than doing nothing for months until she returns.

4 reasons why that idea is stupid.

01. In order for Frankie to sign the sleeves, the CDs cannot be on the shelf in the shop - or would be with a random Frankie signature on

02. If you have any business sense - you will realize printing sleeve booklets isnt cheap - therefore, it would be a waste of money to print extra sleeves when the album market is so low.

03. The whole reason they offer fans - [fans being the ones that want signed cds] - signed cds and posters from the website is so that they dont have to trapse around the country in release week when they could be on tv/radio/magazine interviews

04. There is no way to determine how many fans would turn up to the signing - therefore if the CDs were signed in advance, they wouldn't know how many to do. Especially as you propose Frankie do this "before getting pregnant" - im pretty sure the album had no title, tracklisting, cover etc. back in February when Frankie actually conceived Parker.

Pretty bang on.

Signings do not necessarily equal more sales. It might raise some publicity, but that's about it. Random people who are not fans most likely are not gonna waltz into HMV, buy their CD and get it signed. It is the fans who go to signings, and sometimes not all fans can get to signings so the most logical thing to do is estimate how many people will pay more for a signed edition of the LP and then sell it online. Everyone wins.

^ exactly :)

Also, Headlines! signings were in the middle of the summer holidays, I went to the Manchester one and it was packed with young kids. October wouldn't have offered that.

Shock!! :( Hopefully this can manage to just stay top 100 and then rise after Mondays performance with the announcement of the next single the week after leading to a single release the beginning of January :)

Unoriginal tbh.

Put your boots on baby and get to WORK WORK (bitch).

They need to announce 'Not Giving Up' as the next single round about now and get it out for radio/TV to play throughout December for a January release.

The Saturdays perform their new track #LeaveALightOn exclusively for us: http://dspy.me/1eEKPW2 @TheSaturdays

"their new track".. is Digital Spy confirming it as the new single?!

no, i think they are saying its a new track. i.e a new track on the album.

i love the performance but notice how its mainly just roch and una.. if frankie returns then its gonna be three girls standing there bored with them :/

thats if frankie does come back..

Of course Frankie will be back and the sooner the better if they actually release Leave A Light On. The only time Rochelle didn't sound amazing was when covering for Frankie and Vanessa's high harmonies were completely off.

They did sound incredibly amazing on their solos on that acoustic version, though. Mollie's voice was strong, but nothing compared to Rochelle and Una. They were outstanding.

I don't get why they're so bad at selling albums. I know that they're never going to have massive platinum sales but why do they always do so badly? 'Disco Love' has been a decent sized hit, they're a decent sized name and they've been promoting and even with a Paul O'Grady performance the album could only go back to like #337 on iTunes for a few hours.

I just don't get it?

You don't? It's obvious. The album was barely promoted which meant not many people are aware it's even out

Surprise Surprise is a fairly big TV show. They also had Paul O'Grady's first TV show in years, Stepping Out (a Saturday night show), their morning TV appearances and a Live Lounge plus some Google Hangout type things and it's had four singles. They're never going to get X-Factor and they aren't doing signings because of Frankie so I can't think of anything else they can really do. People must know it's out because they keep mentioning it on Facebook/Twitter and it's stocked in stores obviously, but they just aren't interested in buying it. Even if they do get some good promotion, all it will do is give a short boost to the album for a week. They can be on every TV show possible but people need to be consistantly buying it every single week over a period of months for it to be a success. It's no good them only buying it when they see them on a TV show. This is why airplay is so crucial, because radio can hammer a song to death for months after it's released and keep it in the public eye.
