It's not the end of the world that Radio 1 snubbed one of their songs. They have pretty much playlisted

L of their other singles and this may just be the anomalie. It doesn't meant they'll never look at them again

Yes but if they can't get a great radio-esque type song like NGU then will they?

They better NOT get rid of My Heart Takes Over for a Greatest Hits, I will actually be so beyond annoyed! -_-

Once R1 snub an artist, unless they have had a MASSIVE hit on their own (Maroon 5), they very rarely get back on board.

I don't think it's that anormal to snub a fifth single from a flop album. This is why I've always said the reason why they moved on from 'On Your Radar' was because they knew radios wouldn't touched a song from a flop album, especially after the flop of the previous single MHTO. To go with the lead single of their mew album ("30 Days") was way more easy to sell to radios than anything from OYR and it seems like we're in that situation again.

Like someone said, they might be turning their head now, but will most likely be interrested in the lead single of the GH (only to half-snub what follows, tho)

The problem is, though. If they're going for a Greatest Hits release next then you just know they'll release the Gentleman/Missing You/Forever Is Over to launch it and leave the Ego/Higher/Not Giving Up as the next single.

I sometimes wonder how stupid their label are. I'm not saying Not Giving Up would have smashed if it was released earlier, but for f*** sake, it was recorded in like late 2012 (when they were doing Chasing The Saturdays) and they leave it until April 2014 to release it and instead go for Gentleman and Disco Love to sell the album? Do they ever sit and think "HEY! Maybe the reason why nobody gives us a shit about us is because we release shitty singles all the time and never release the best ones first?".

If they followed up What About Us with Not Giving Up and then the album release there's no way they'd be in this position. In my opinion, Gentleman has f***ed up their career and Disco Love kinda saved face a little but again, NOT GIVING UP SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED AGES AGO!

If 'Gentleman' was successful it would have benefited them immensely in the long run - I don't think 'Not Giving Up' would have worked as a follow up from 'What About Us'.
I think they sort of had to take the risk and release 'Gentleman' when they did because it was the only time in their careers where they could take such a risk. It could have a been a massive turning point for them but it wasn't, so they and everybody else needs to move on. 'Disco Love' was the obvious choice for the next single seeing as Frankie wasn't going to be there. And that was NOT a flop in terms of a The Saturdays release. Then they decided to release one more single and the only choice left for them on that dreadfully average album was 'Not Giving Up'. There's still 2 weeks + until its release so there's plenty of time for promo/playlisting to happen. If it doesn't then it doesn't. The fanbase have got the single release they wanted and the record company will have had a few more album sales (VERY few album sales) out of it so it's been a good decision. I hope a Greatest Hits is next because frankly, if they're going to continue releasing 'Living For The Weekend' standard albums, they can sod off because they are capable of so much better.

I disagree with this part. Sure, Frankie wouldn't have been able to do the promotion for it but she could still have done the video (she managed Disco Love) and they could just have had someone cover for her in live performances. The whole single didn't have to be scrapped because of Frankie's six lines on the song.

'Not Giving Up' is too similar to WAU for second single. It should have gone WAU->DL->NGU->ALBUM->LALO.

Similarity is what sells albums. This whole "each single sounds different" thing never works. Artists stick to a sound and that's how an album is promoted. The Sats always say "the next single is a little bit different from what we usually do" and it ends up flopping. Just stick to the dance music and electropop. No pop/rock, no raps, no "experiments", no cheesy girly stuff, no midtempo ballads.....dance music.

Oh my gosh this

Shadow I disagree with you on Forever is Over and Missing You. Most people here hate these two songs and there is no reason to, especially Missing You as that fitted as a lead for Headlines with it being summer and such! Everyone gets buzzed about the All Fired Up etc which is a great song but it sold the exact same as Missing You and charted the exact same? Little off topic but hey ho ^_^

The problem is, though. If they're going for a Greatest Hits release next then you just know they'll release the Gentleman/Missing You/Forever Is Over to launch it and leave the Ego/Higher/Not Giving Up as the next single.

Missing You was number 1 on radio for two weeks, if anything they need another single like that.

I've never understood the 'argument' that they always release the
wrong
songs.

To me, they are releasing all the right songs, they just don't release enough of them. 'One Shot', for example. Sure I would have liked 'One Shot' to be the first single of Wordshaker, then Ego...but then I would have released 'Forever Is Over' right after anyway. It wasn't a wrong choice to me, not at all.

Again, even if they had released 'Not Giving Up' as the second single, I'd have gone with 'Gentleman' for fourth single because it deserves to be a single.

I think their Greatest Hits, even if the plain idea makes me yawn, will be a really strong one. They have released some really good material throughout the years. Sadly, not enough (Get Ready Get Set, One Shot, etc.), but it will do the trick.

Exactly, love this!

Well the first single is meant to showcase the sound of the album.

'30 Days to us.. ahhhhh....'

Album seller ;)

Well 30 Days apparently wasn't intended to lead this album, rather a re-release of On Your Radar.

Album to single artwork is very similar as well!

The album artwork was taken from the mini book inside OYR

Just had to dig out my copy of On Your Radar - so unbelievably cheap and lazy!

They were clearly under some sort of budget, just like they are with this one again. :/
