October 17, 201311 yr I know, but it's fallen a lot from 2 years ago. It's fallen, but it's also so much harder to tell what is massively popular, although the live ratings will give a good guess still. Not everyone watches live TV anymore. It's why broadcast need to come up with some better ways to market these falling ratings.
October 17, 201311 yr I can easily see screen adverts happening soon enough, then you can't skip them.
October 17, 201311 yr Finals 4.1 Modern Family 3.1 Toy Story of Terror 2.6 Survivor 1.9 Back in the Game 1.8 Law & Order SVU 1.6 Nashville 1.0 Ironside 2.5 American Horror Story: Coven I thought the 2nd episode was pretty boring myself. I really cant see any of their new sitcoms surviving. In fact it seems nearly all new sitcoms on broadcast are bombing - ABC should just schedule more drama hours. I reckon Back In The Game has the best shot, similar level to The Neighbors last year but then that's having a terrible 2nd season. Really wish Trophy Wife had been given the post-MF slot, four episodes in it's my favourite new show of the fall but too late to save now. :(
October 18, 201311 yr Super Fun Night's retention is pathetic. ABC should quickly put The Goldbergs in the Weds 9.30 slot.
October 18, 201311 yr Thursday 4.9 The Big Bang Theory 3.3 Scandal 3.2 The Millers 2.6 Grey's Anatomy 2.5 The Crazy Ones 2.1 Two and a Half Men 1.6 Elementary 1.3 The Vampire Diaries 1.3 Parenthood 1.3 Parks & Rec 1.2 Once Upon a Time in Wonderland 1.2 The Michael J Fox Show 1.1 Sean Saves The World 0.9 Welcome to the Family 0.8 Reign Scandal up. :cheer: Nice to see The CW third at 8 too.
October 18, 201311 yr The Crazy Ones and Parks & Rec up again too, good stuff. LOL at OUATIW - that's flopping harder than I could ever have imagined! Oh and OUCH at Elementary! Those are pretty shocking ratings for a show only in it's second season.
October 18, 201311 yr If Parks can hold there until January then it'll be fine, I can't see it not going back up to 1.6 territory once it gets its old timeslot back.
October 18, 201311 yr When was the last successful spin-off? I can't think of any that have been successful in America for the past 10 years! (CSI and NCIS aside)
October 18, 201311 yr Well we can test that theory again come January with Chicago P.D. Though I expect that will do alright, probably 10% lower than the parent show so 1.8/1.9 for most of the run.
October 18, 201311 yr Well we can test that theory again come January with Chicago P.D. Absolutely no chance of being an impressive ratings hit, I would bet my kidney on it right now! The cable ones in development I could possibly see working, but right now I don't think the audiences for any shows are big enough on any of the bigger networks. Not even sure a Big Bang Theory spin-off would work.
October 18, 201311 yr Crossing mediums, SHEILD is probably the most successful of the past couple of years. Rizzoli & Isles and Bones would also feature on a list of successes from the last decade (Having come from novels)
October 18, 201311 yr When was the last successful spin-off? I can't think of any that have been successful in America for the past 10 years! (CSI and NCIS aside) Private Practice? It lasted 6 seasons at least
October 18, 201311 yr Ooh, thinking of cable ones, Major Crimes. I know an average 0.9 in 18-49 isn't a SMASH HIT, but it's good for TNT. And JUST within the last 10 years, Boston Legal ran for 5 seasons as a spin-off from The Practice.
October 18, 201311 yr NCIS itself is actually a spin-off so that's arguably the biggest spin off on US TV.
October 18, 201311 yr Private Practice? It lasted 6 seasons at least Forgot about that! I can't think of many more though, but I can think of plenty of failures.
October 18, 201311 yr That's a great rating for TVD! :D Reign had an okay start. I kinda want to watch the show, but will wait a few weeks to see if ratings hold up.
October 18, 201311 yr Thursday Finals 5.2 The Big Bang Theory 2.7 Grey's Anatomy 2.4 The Crazy Ones 1.5 Elementary
October 18, 201311 yr Elementary is so good, but I guess it'll be a goner by the end of the season. :( How many shows do you get with such an enthralling non-romantic opposite sex pairing? And it's probably Lucy Liu's best ever role (O-Ren Ishii excepted).
