October 15, 201311 yr I may have missed something here but why would 'Unconditionally' do any better than 'Walking On Air'/'Dark Horse'? (Also if it's released the same way as 'Walking On Air' it won't be chart eligible anyway). I'm pleased to see AlexRange hates Lorde.
October 15, 201311 yr 'Unconditionally' is the second single, though :P (unlike 'Dark Horse' and 'Walking on Air' x)
October 15, 201311 yr 'Unconditionally' is the second single, though :P (unlike 'Dark Horse' and 'Walking on Air' x) Has it actually had any more promotion/airplay than they did before release though? (Just seen 'Prism' is out next week, thought it was still a few weeks away - disregard the thing about 'Unconditionally' being ineligible :P 'Walking On Air' should also become chart eligible but it's not selling enough to be up there now anyway).
October 15, 201311 yr Has it actually had any more promotion/airplay than they did before release though? I think she's performing it on The X Factor so it'll probably do a Firework and debut top 10.
October 15, 201311 yr Lorde is gonna be #1 by a landslide, I don't think James Arthur will even get top 2.
October 15, 201311 yr I prefer You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You (Although they're both great) and I think it's really hard to call but I think he'll probably just get the #1.
October 15, 201311 yr Given the lack of X Factor promotion, James Arthur could miss out; which is a real shame. Both deserve #1 though, so I'd settle for Arthur and then Lorde the following week.
October 15, 201311 yr I really don't like either song. Why is the Lorde song so popular. Hope they both miss out but sadly Lorde WILL be no1.
October 15, 201311 yr Re. Bray (cos I'm too good for quotes), she's not premièred the song yet, so there's nothing to go by on airplay/promotion.
October 16, 201311 yr I know this is a really unpopular opinion but the Lorde song just DOESN'T sound like a Number 1 record to me. I know it's doing well on pre-orders and everything but that doesn't mean Top 2 is a foregone conclusion. (Now watch me being proved totally wrong and it spends 4 weeks at Number 1 ) EDIT: Just seen it's now #49 on pre-orders :o so I'm probably gonna be eating my words this time next week. I'm still surprised it's doing so well though, really hope she re-releases Tennis Court after this! Edited October 16, 201311 yr by mango
October 16, 201311 yr Rapid fall later today (hopefully). Why would it have a rapid fall when it's been slowly gaining for weeks? Lorde's *easily* gonna beat James and I think it is the lesser of two evils. Shame it's this Lorde song doing well and not Tennis Court. At least she's good sometimes unlike James who is awful. Could see him being ~#3.

I actually prefer Royals over Tennis Court.
October 16, 201311 yr Top Pops Take Two will have the answer on Friday. Don't forget to listen! http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=155050 Edited October 16, 201311 yr by davetaylor
October 16, 201311 yr Would much prefer Lorde to get the #1 over James and think she will. Having heard Katy's new one, with an X Factor performance too, she'll be putting up a very good fight and could just steal it if the performance is on point.
