The Alternate version of "Perfume" on the Deluxe "Britney Jean" is haunting, dark, cold, hollow; a distant cry from Will.I.Am's version, a music insider shares with BreatheHeavy.com. The eerie drum loop mixed with guitars, strings, synth pads and the piano (that beautiful piano!) suits the lyrics far better than the heavy bass does in the radio mix. The sound is deeper and more straightforward rather than the embellishments on the album version.

 

The alternate "Perfume" features a slowed-down chilling background mixed with echoey vocals (lyrics and duration remain the same) - a much stronger-sounding traditional ballad versus Will's radio-friendly power slow-jam.

 

I bet Britney will go with this version for Vegas. Fans are going to LOVE this new mix!

I am a big fan of a lot of superstars like Katy Perry, Xtina, Spice Girls, etc and honestly I can accept when they fail or they music isn't good (Prism, Bionic, VF The Musical, etc ) , so when I read that the 'Perfume' is a good track...it's like WTF? .. Seriously , it is her worst single to date. Yes, we can hear her voice for once in so many years, but the chorus sounds like it is unfinished, the lyrics aren't nothing spectacular and the whole thing sounds so mediocre.

 

I respect all opinions, but it caught my attention when I read that it is one of her best tracks. At this moment, and based on the different Itunes peaks, it seems that I'm not the only one thinking like that.

It's nowhere near her best but it's miles ahead of some of her singles *cough*that hideous madonna duet*cough*

Her worst single ever, really? When she's released the following horrors:

Good, that's the only thing stopping the song from being amazing is the fact Will.I.Ams version has to much going on and it needs to be more of a simple ballad. Can't wait to hear it.

Amazing songs!

It's not on the level of atrocity that were the likes of Ooh La La or Criminal but it's definitely not among her best either.

 

After giving it some good listening, I think Perfume is quite forgettable and not a patch on Passenger which seems far superior both music and lyrics-wise.

Why do people think "Perfume" is bad? Bar "Work B!tch", the music from "Britney Jean" seems really interesting and in a very different lane.
