Does Lou Reed's chart appearances include his appearance on the Various Artists' version of Perfect Day that went to #1?

No - I wasn't aware he was involved in that. Have added it in now.

His chart hits are 'Walk On The Wild Side', 'I Love You, Suzanne' (not a top 75 hit), 'Satellite Of Love', 'Soul Man' with Sam Moore, 'Tranquilize' with The Killers and 'Perfect Day', plus 'Venus In Furs' by The Velvet Underground.

Isn't Lou Reed also on 'This Is Your Land' by Simple Minds or was that just a (bad) dream?

He was, but uncredited as far as I can tell.

Definitely not credited, but then was he officially credited on 'Tranquilize'?

Looking on Discogs, some of the single releases do say 'feat. Lou Reed' and others don't. I generally use the album tracklist to decide one way or the other when crediting is inconsistent and he is listed as a featured artist on the tracklist to 'Sawdust'. He is also credited on iTunes (though it's 'The Killers & Lou Reed' there) and on the official YouTube upload.

(It is only listed as 'KILLERS' in the OCC database but I don't always agree with how they credit things, for one thing they omit the 'The' :P)

Lou Reed is credited on at least some of the OCC archives - see http://www.officialcharts.com/archive-chart/_/1/2007-10-27/

I didn't have him in my data originally, but checking things after his death with Polyhex & the OCC archives as above I added him in

I also never realised how close "I Love You, Suzanne" came to making the Top 75. Certainly deserved at least a token week in the Top 75 as it's one of my favourite Reed tracks.
