You've heard it all now and know she's currently planning the next monstrous cock-up, so how do you want to see the era going in terms of single releases??

 

Not just about picking your favourites, but what would work for the era commercially? And what can she simply NOT touch.

Best case scenario for me (if she even gets past single #4) is:

 

Applause > Do What U Want > Gypsy > Sexxx Dreams > (Artpop?) > G.U.Y. > Whatever she wants (Aura?)~

 

I would want 'Sexxx Dreams' ASAP to stop it becoming the album's 'Dance in the Dark'/'Scheiße' but i don't think it would work as the immediate follow up to 'Do What U Want'. Plus the universal acclaim for 'Gypsy' can't be ignored (and the fact that it needs to be this era's 'Edge of Glory'). 'G.U.Y.' HAS to be released, but again following it on from Sexxx Dreams is too much filth for the public to handle and the only other viable single choice is the title track to go between them.

 

I'd LOVE 'Donatella' to see the light of day but it really wouldn't work as a single. 'Aura' could work pretty much anywhere too, but i think it should remain a strong album track instead (or the final single?)

 

Venus/Fashion!/Swine/Jewels&Drugs to remain locked away on the album forever!!

honestly think G.U.Y. has to be the next single, tho i am a bit biased against Gypsy. so g.u.y > gypsy > sex dreams > jewels n drugs for a lol final single?

 

nothing else is even worth TRYING. she already had her first 2 strikes with the Venus cock up (almost my fav on the album BUT awful single choice for joe public)

'Sexxx Dreams' and then 'Gypsy'.

 

I honestly can't see how anything else would work as a single, aside from maybe 'G.U.Y.' but even then I'm not convinced.

I think would be a decent run? That's probably going off personal preference (but ignoring that my fav Swine wouldn't be a good release choice, nor would MJH or Dope, both of which I prefer to G.U.Y) as I just don't get Sexxx Dreams, therefore would dislike it as a single.

Gypsy as third single is a total no brainer. I reckon after that G.U.Y might be a decent sized hit, but if they need a 5th single to tide things over for a bit longer Artpop could be a good curveball option given it's unlikely to do much chart wise no matter what it is (sans a major push, obv).

Well here's how I'd plan out the WHOLE ERA

 

01 Applause (mid August)

(no iTunes gig - it was just embarrassing)

02 Do What U Want (late September/early October)

03 Sexx Dreams (early November)

*album comes out*

04 Gypsy (January)

05 GUY (April)

06 Jewels N Drugs (June)

Singles aren't important any more

 

Albums and especially tours are

 

She has peaked as a singles artist imho much as i love her, her last #1 was Telephone

 

But she will carry on selling multi platinum albums and packing out stadiums across the world

Nothing else would work. Sexxx Dreams is a great song but it's SO not a single on any conceivable level.

Course she should but i don't think they matter to her as much now

 

What matters is albums/tours and she will be ultra successful in both for the next decade and beyond

 

Artpop is not a commercial orientated album with lots of singalong tunes, its not a R1 album

And 5 could be anything (pardon the pun...). As someone said above, a good curveball single here could work.

 

But maybe she should release just two more singles the forget this era and move on to the next. I wonder if she will ever have a no.1 or top 3 single again at this rate.

The whole reason why artists release (or rather promote) singles after albums is to promote the album. Someone might be tempted to buy the album after hearing a song they like.
