Posted November 15, 201311 yr v. on trend with the whole laidback chill vibes that have been going on this year not particularly feeling it but if you Classixx / Daft Punk c. 2013 etc. then you'll like this
November 29, 201311 yr I really like it, although I guess it benefits from being relatively short as it leaves you wanting more... Sam Smith is possibly going to explode in America next year as "Latch" is apparently being pushed in January 2014, and "La La La" will also be getting a big push on radio in the States next month - hopefully it can launch him into a big star!

La La La is #209 on the pop airplay chart there atm, which is something I guess. US pop stations seem to be very restrictive, and don't take many risks, so I'm honestly not sure how La La La or Latch would do there... I think they're better off promoting both those songs to the rhythmic stations first. I hope they can be hits though obviously, since they're amazing.
December 1, 201311 yr The US pop stations are slowly changing though, with the emergence of dance music infiltrating into the mainstream they've been a little more open to playing something a little bit different... but you are right that it will be difficult to get "La La La" and particularly "Latch" into big rotation pop radio hits.

There haven't been any recent dance hits there though. The songs like Clarity and Summertime Sadness aren't any different to the dance-pop songs that have been dominating there ever since 2006/2007, so it's not at all surprising they'd play those. The success of Drake and Lorde's recent pop radio hits might help pave the way for Disclosure and Naughty Boy there on pop radio, but I think they'd have an easier chance on rhythmic stations since they always play minimal laid-back music on those stations quite easily. On the pop stations it'd be a struggle I think... We saw it happen in the UK, with Capital FM. Admiteddly, they played La La La pre-release, but Latch got ignored on there for months.
December 3, 201311 yr WOW this has be a hell of year for Sam Smith, Nile Rodgers, Disclosure . 'Together' is a nice track....but it's way to short. Edited December 3, 201311 yr by M_Starchild
