It wasn't Al Martino who jumped back twice, it was Frankie Laine with 'I Believe', also the longest running song ever - it did it in 3 runs - 9 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 weeks, and he did it in 1953 :P

Chart run c/o polyhex.com: 11-8-4-{1}-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-2-2-3-2-2-4-6-5-7-4-6-10-OUT

OK clever clogs, so my theory went bang out of the window, I just was thinking of the top of my head, I know now :P

Thanks for the updates mikey

You're welcome

is sandi thom on download only?

Nope.

I actually like it better than her awful first single, but I'm happy that her success seems like it'll be short lived. Can't stand her.

I agree though that things may change in next few days due to the Bank Holiday. There will be more downloads counted and less physicals at the moment. Scissor Sisters look sure to be number one next week though...

F#$&%... #3,#4 and #5 are really close...

Scissor Sisters would have been #1 with Downloads... had they been released this week and not 4 weeks ago

Oh dear...really bad for Pink and Sandi Thom-I bought them both today-its a shame shes going to be a one hit wonder...the b-side to her new single is excellent (2 track version)
I just realised-12 weeks in the top 3 for Shakira :-0 When was the last time a song spent 12 weeks in the top 3??? Early 90's perhaps?

Actually that would make an interesting chart thread topic in itself, as of the top of my head I can't think of one track.

Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around  Can we count that? 15 weeks at number one...17 weeks in the top 3 (how boring!)

Tyron probs right.

Most I could find this century was James Blunt on 10 weeks.

Shakira's song will be Top 3 this week (probably #2) and Top 5 next week (#1 SS, #2 Justin and #3-4 (Nelly/Shakira) and maybe Robbie Williams...) That song will end up selling 420K - 450K...

Her next single (Illegal) will be released on October so there's still 4 - 5 weeks for this song on the charts... (It has been 13 weeks in the top 10 in iTunes and it's still #6 when all the other songs have come and gone) and 12 weeks in the Top 3 (UK Singles Chart).

Justin sold 250K in the US (First Week)... This is an early estimate so there's the possibility that SexyBack might have broken Shakira's record (266K)

By this time next year you can expect songs that are as popular as Hips or SexyBack to sell over 350K in a week...

Please don't let Rudebox to get Top 5... That song is really bad

-----------

How many downloads do you think SS have lost (pre-released)???

My guess: 70K - 100K

Why would popular songs sell over 350k in a week in a years time?? ;)

Why would popular songs sell over 350k in a week in a years time??

becuse they are having downloads in the chart as soon as they can be purchased aren't they or have i just dreamed that

becuse they are having downloads in the chart as soon as they can be purchased aren't they or have i just dreamed that

I've not heard about that yet?

Sales are being held for some artist...

When the song is big like HDL or SexyBack they have soldl 250K+ the first week... (When It's not so big like Deja Vu or London Bridge they sell around 100K-120K)

Sales have been increasing at a great rate... so you could expect songs to surpass the 300K by next year (obviously they have to be as popular as HDL or SB and be held for at least 1 - 2 months)
