1D will easily sell 70k this week I think. They've had a good gift card boost on iTunes and the first half of the week was Xmas buys.

I think it'll be close - 70-90k for 1D and 10-15k for Emeli? Maybe they'll do it. On one hand be good to see a new album at the top and they are the biggest thing around at the moment. On the other hand not a fan. Though Emeli has basically benefitted by being rammed down our throats like she was the only artist in existence for around 18 months of her campaign so I don't love her either. Robbie last minute rush FTW!
If Emeli gets it, then we'll have had 4 years of people called Adele getting the year-end #1 album.

Four years? 2011 was Adele and then 2012 Emeli, with 2013 potentially being Emeli, but 2010 was Take That was it not? Unless you don't mean consecutively?

I thought Adele got 2 years and Emeli got 1 year for some reason.

1D should easily sold 50k before Christmas, so they will need less than 20k after, in my opinion for 99.9 % they will have no.1.

Probably because Adele was looking set to be #1 for 2012 right up until the last couple of weeks when Emeli overtook (i.e. the same situation as Emeli is now in herself).

Emeli overtook Adele's sales at the very end of August so it's quite a different situation. :P

I really hope 1D get the #1 though, if they had longer to build up sales we'd have a pretty good total for them I think! Sure, they'll have the lowest Y/E album #1 in a while, but they'll still have done it in 5 weeks if they get there which is impressive regardless of the sales climate.

Did she? I thought Adele was still #1 right up until December. Apparently not ~

I'd much prefer Emeli Sande to take the crown for second year in the row, than the abysmal One Direction. I think it was 1984 when the last time an album didn't reach 1 million copies in a year.
I think I got confused because Adele got two years in the US, and I was thinking it was the UK.

You've never said. :D

The top 3 albums sold over a million copies in 1984. I think the last year was 1981 when Adam & The Ants triumphed with "Kings Of The Wild Frontier" on sales of just over 830k

so according to the sales threat 1D finished on 684,754 and Emeli on 682,908 so beat her by less than 2,000. When was the last time it was this close. Buble not far behind on 631,000 and Robbie on 626,000
