June 12, 201411 yr Scoring the first goal of their own world cup would have been a great headline for them, shame it went into the back of their net....Â
June 12, 201411 yr I'm not even sure why I want them to lose. It may be because I like the Croatian jersey.

June 12, 201411 yr Yeah I always like to support the underdogs so it'd be great for Croatia to at least get a draw from this match.
June 12, 201411 yr I think Brazil just redefined awkward.  That was my first reaction, out of all the brazillians players it had to be Marcello.  I'm actually routing for Croatia.
June 12, 201411 yr This ref has made some truly appalling decisions tonight. All against Croatia as well. Got to wonder how much the ref is being paid...

June 12, 201411 yr It's a home crowd though, would probably be the same if it was Man Utd vs Wigan at Old Trafford. Soft penalty, but he did raise an arm. Gave the referee an excuse to give the penalty. Problem is there have been some awful challenges from both sides that have not even warranted a card.
June 12, 201411 yr Author Neymar's goal record at international level is astonishing. 33 goals in 50 appearances for a 22 year old  Croatia can count themselves unlucky with the disallowed goal and soft penalty, but I still expect them to qualify in 2nd place
June 12, 201411 yr Brazil just confirmed what I thought. Couple of good players, but so many shit/average ones. Scolari made a massive mistake with the squad he's taken. If they win the World Cup it will be through Neymar carrying them to the trophy.

Finally seen someone with the same opinion of it as me. Soft? Absolutely, but what on earth does Lovren gain by putting his hands over Fred? He's got his back to goal and he can't get to the ball, it's just needless and he's asking for it. It really frustrates me the amount of times defenders make daft decisions enabling forwards to go down easily.

It really frustrates me the amount of times defenders make daft decisions enabling forwards to go down easily. I'd be livid if it was my side, but you see it all the time in football. You put your arms round an attacker then of course he's going to go for a foul, especially in the position Fred was in. Absolute brainfart from Lovren, especially with Fred nowhere near the goal. Feel bad for Croatia, but truth be told, Brazil just had better quality. Don't know what Townsend was on about, the third goal was a magnificent shot, not a goalkeeping error!
June 12, 201411 yr Andy Townsend is a quite a lousy commentator, he mainly just gives one-worded conversation killing answers such as "yeah"Â Â This World Cup is going to feel so weird, even after this first match it still feels like you could easily forget that there is a World Cup taking place now. Even in Brazil there not that keen or excited for the tournament.
June 13, 201411 yr You'd assume that the referee would have been more likely to give the disallowed goal after the soft-ish penalty to balance things out if it weren't Brazil. Not outrageous that they got the better of two decisions but it will be if it carries on.
