HAIM aren't really comparable to The Sats, Little Mix and the like. They're actually a *band*, not just a group. They have a lot more 'credibility' than acts like The Sats could ever get.

Isn't that the whole point? Haim are a girlband who are popular among males & females because they make music seen as credible. The main reason groups like The Saturdays can never be popular among males is because their music does not attempt to be seen as credible and men [generally] care too much about how credible their music looks to be a fan of anyone who isn't...

You've just highlighted the point I wanted to make ;)

Haim are a good example of a "girlband"who are cool and who males & females love!

They're not really a typical girl band as they play instruments and have indie credentials.

My point was HAIM aren't relevant to this discussion because they aren't a 'girlband', they're an 'all female band'. It's a completely different thing.

This. It'd be like comparing One Direction to The Killers as they're both, technically, boybands.

Y'all should really start a new thread for all this.

 29. Pitbull "Timber (feat. Ke$ha)"

Re-entry into the iTunes T100 for Beyonce. Wish radio airplay would pick up, I've seen the video a few times on Tv now and thought it'd be doing better (I downloaded it the first time I heard it, haha!)

Bands that play their own instruments instantly have more "credibility" than a band that doesn't, so have less of a hard time gaining it. It's been like that since the 1960s.

Well that depends on whether the initial point was intended to refer solely to "girlbands" or just groups of females in general. I'd find discussing the ability of groups of/women to garner credibility and a male fanbase more interesting than whatever the point of talking about which "girlbands" have credibility and male fans (answer: none) is.
