Pre-Ordered!!

"The Essence Of Me" is really a great song! I hope she will release it as a single. S-e-n-s-a-t-i-o-n-a-l
The snippets are just so beautiful and amazing :w00t:

Really not impressed by that unfortunately.

I swear her diction never used to be quite that bad, I can hardly make out what she is saying as all the words are being run into one with some really uncomfortable to listen to high notes also thrown in. I have always been a fan of Leona's voice but it is by far at it's best when a little more subtle than she is using it in those clips.

Lyrically also, the songs seem to all be about her no longer being at Syco. Fair enough, make a song or two about it, but is it really going to be an entire album of "I was down but now I got up", "I am stronger without you" etc. throughout? It seems there that the lyrics all seem a little predictable and cliché. If she wanted to write a whole album about Cowell, do it in a more clever way that isn't so in your face obvious with every single line and isn't repeating the same kind of lyrics song to song because then it makes it seem you have nothing more to say.

Obviously this is only from those 5 snippets though. I do actually really like Leona and hope that the full songs and the rest of the album proves me wrong. Just I am nowhere near anticipating it like I was.

Wait, why is another one of the songs called I Got You :o she already has a song called that

It goes "I Got Youuu" a lot  Can hear a live version Leona did at GAY:

I think they should certainly have chosen another name for I Got You.

Anyway, from the snippets I have to say 'Ladders' sounds the best. It's got the most modern and fresh feel of all of the tracks. There's a few promising ones in there though.

It'll be time for premiering and pushing the next single soon!

Edited by Joe.

Ye, the second single should be premiering soon! It'll be either "Thunder" or "I Am" I think. Also, "Ladders" is great but reminds me of "Latch" quite a bit.

They could have called "I Got You" "When" instead.

Couldn't you say the same about 21 or Back to Black though? At the end of the day, Leona was criticised for apparently being Simon's pop puppet and not being honest in her music so I'm glad she's really showing her feelings throughout the album. It won't all be about Syco though. 'Thank You', 'Another Love Song', 'I Got You' and I assume 'You Knew Me When' will all be about something else. That's nearly half the album.

Yes and the same could be said about many albums that have become big sellers in the past. I think it's great Leona's got a central theme to the album and it looks to be her most cohesive yet! :D "Thank You" is a song about her parents, "Another Love Song" is a fun catchy dance number, "I Got You" is soulful, mid-tempo with an uplifting vibe to it. I just can't wait to hear the songs in full!

The Daily Express gave the album a positive review on their website:

So we should start getting album reviews in the comings weeks which I can't wait for! :D

I do agree that Leona's diction isn't particularly clear. I really like the big notes on Thunder because she's never really done full Leona attack before. The lyric thing, I'm afraid I do agree with you not because it's repititious but because it's about something that people don't necessarily relate to. I'm speaking as someone who hates empowerment songs with a passion so maybe I'm biaised but I don't think it's people's jam to listen to songs about overcoming adversity all the time.

If Island put some money on her in Autumn and get her slots of Norton, Children in Need, Strictly (as I expect X Factor will be out) and Wossy - I can see this album being a very good seller granted Radio 2 play all the singles, which I think they will.

Saying put money in her and slots in the same sentence make it sound like she's a slot machine haha

I hope she can still get an X Factor slot, Simon has said she can still perform on there and I think Leona said she'd be up for it, so I hope all the press stuff remains just 'press stuff' and they still have a good personal relationship.
