Album of the week on R2

Great news, but so strange! Never seen them do that for an album that hasn't been released yet. Maybe we'll get to hear "You Knew Me When"/"Power"/"I Got You" in full then? Or maybe the other tracks we haven't heard in HQ yet "Thank You"/"Ladders"? :o

Really happy with that!

Also this is obviously a long shot but is I Am in for a chance to be nominated at the Grammys & Brits? What are the date requirements?

She was at The Grammys today so made me think of it, would love for her to get some recognition for this with a few awards!

I can't see it happening. It'd have to sell A LOT for that to happen.

Ye, I highly doubt that Leona will get any grammy nominations for the album. Chances are like 1/100,000  Although I do think the Endor remix for "Fire Under My Feet" or one of the other remixes may be nominated in the remix category given it's been a decent hit on the dance charts. (Afrojack remix of collide was nominated for best remix grammy a few years back).

"Power" is now available on German iTunes as an instagrat there! :o

Played the snippet and sounds different to what I thought it would. I hope it'll be available everywhere soon, don't see the point in waiting a week to make it an instagrat everywhere else.

'Power' is looking to be one of my all time favourites from Leona already. It's making me highly emotional.
Thanks for the link. Gave it a listen, and I'm afraid I have a slight reservation. Not knocking it down, I think its a great track, and maybe it's just me being used to a fixed format for pop songs or nitpicking. It feel's underwritten to me to the point the chorus comes off a little bit as a gimmick. The versus strike me as needing a bit more padding rather than the embellishments preceding the chorus. Just my opinion. I wonder if they planned to give it a rap verse...especially before the last chorus. For the video, I see Leona performing on a cliff, all white, all alone, lots of sweeping helicopter shots.

Not brilliant for me again, I'm afraid. Some nice touches, but overall kinda meh. Her diction has gotten terrible. I feel like Island are giving her second rate material, I hope there are some more tracks as strong as 'Another Love Song'. Still looking forward to 'Ladders'!

Leona's written on all the songs (bar "You Knew Me With") and Toby Gad produced the majority of the album. The majority of the album was already recorded by the time Leona signed up to Island. The only song that Island was involved in was "You Knew Me When" I believe which was written by Diane Warren. The rest of the album is pretty much all Leona.

She's co-written them, which is actually very different to fully writing them. For example, if an artist can give a general feel of how they want a song to feel, or simply give 1 or 2 lines, and they will still be credited as a writer. Sometimes the people who write a song together don't even meet. Anyway, there's still half the album I've not heard. I am really liking 'I Am' now, even though I never really took to the other two singles.

(Btw Marina said some interesting things about co-writing recently, that I found opened my eyes a little http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31838270 )

Ye, that's what I meant. But Leona hasn't just written one or two lines. She's written a lot of the album with Toby Gad. Ellie Goulding for instance changed a few lyrics on "Burn" to get a writing credit.

Leona started the album by herself with Toby and they've done most of the writing on the album and I believe Toby has produced most of it.

Basically, Island haven't supplied Leona with much of anything, so it's not Island giving her second rate material (in reference to your post), as most of the material was already done before Island got involved.

Ah, fair enough. I guess in regards to some of the songs I wish Island had provided her with some stuff instead then, haha. I'm sure lots of it will grow on me, though..

I noticed the album was up to 284 on amazon earlier, that's an improvement!

The CD was recently made available to pre-order on Amazon again (it wasn't available for a few weeks) so that's good to see!

'Power' is possibly my favourite so far which is good news!
For me it's good to hear an album that is finally fully created by Leona with no label interference (bar that one song then). I think some fans are disappointed but she invested the album herself, she obviously wasn't going to spend millions on it so quality wise it is different than her previous albums that were paid by the label. Plus, it's the same producer for the whole album. I'm not a fan of that in general. I wouldn't want a full Ryan Tedder album either. I still think everything sounds great and if you play those songs we already have in order then this album will be very good in full :)
