"Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka is the national final format developed by LRT in order to select Lithuania's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. The competition will involve an initial twenty artists competing in a ten week long process that will begin on 14 December 2013 and will conclude with a winning song on 8 February 2014 and a winning artist on 15 February 2014.

 

The format of the competition will involve artists competing independent from the songs, potentially being paired with any of the songs that have been selected for the competition at a later stage. LRT has stated in the rules that composers must agree to the condition that their song may be offered to an artist they did not originally write the song for. The twenty artists were revealed during a jubilee concert that featured the finalists performing past Lithuanian Eurovision Song Contest entries. The twenty finalists will then compete weekly by performing cover versions of various songs from 21 December 2013 to 11 January 2014. Ten of the twenty artists will be eliminated after the the second and third shows on 21 December 2013 and 28 December 2013 after which only one artist will be eliminated in the following weeks per show. On 18 January 2014, the eight remaining finalists will be paired with two potential bidding songs; 16 songs in total. From 18 January 2014 to 1 February 2014, one artist will be eliminated and two songs will be eliminated per show. On 8 February 2014, five remaining artists will perform the remaining ten candidate songs; one artist will be eliminated and the winning song will be selected. On 15 February 2014, the four remaining artists will compete by performing the winning song and the pairing which receives the most votes from a combination of jury and public voting will be declared Lithuania's representative in Copenhagen.

Haven't you read the latest study about a strong correlation between blonde-white-woman-ness and talent? :o They provide STRIKING arguements a la 'Deers can be female therefore they wear pants. Giraffes don't wear pants therefore zebras have stripes. Zebras having stripes and female deers wearing pants concludes that white blonde women and white blonde women only have talent'. Of course it's only the closing part of the study and what the rest does is prove that deers can be female and giraffes don't wear pants, obviously.

Only for two shows. The fourth show of the competition will air on 4 January 2014 and will feature the ten competing artists that qualified from the previous two shows performing cover versions of Lithuanian hit songs.

 

I don't have any information about the next stages of preselection.

Heat 2 results :

Eliminated: Pop Ladies :( , Soliaris, Neringa Siaudikyte, Ginte Siciunaite, Tadas Vilcinskas.

At some point the song "Attention" was chosen as the entry. Tonight three acts compete to be the one to sing it in Denmark.

 

 

 

 

I rather like the song but it sounds better when sung by one of the two women. Even if they went with the man it would still be the best entry they've sent in forever.

That third contestant there actually wrote the song herself so it would make sense that she gets picked tonight (not that Lithuanian selections ever make sense mind!).

IMHO this is FANTASTIC, it's like Chase & Status Feat. Linda Bengtzing. Although it does sound A TAD like the Big Reunion theme music.

Listening to this for a second time, it's nowhere near as bad as the odds would suggest. It has a 'hot mess' quality to it in parts but the production is pretty strong. I can't fathom why it's a distant last, even behind some of the horror entries. I guess it's because it's seen as a no-hoper, whereas some of the crap could easily sneak through.
