YTD Sales Estimates – Helpful suggestions :

Please read these notes before you request sales estimates - it makes my task a lot easier (apologies to regulars for the repetition).

1. Most of the big hits from before 2013 will now have dropped from my tracking range after the Y/E reset, so the Y/E 2012 thread ( http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t=0&start=0 ) should be your first port of call for those.

2. Please be specific on what you'd like to know - don't just name an artist/title & expect me to guess.

3. I'd be grateful if you could try to keep requests down to a reasonable number - say no more than a half-dozen or so.

4. I only track singles/albums that debut in the current year, or big hits from previous year(s) that have charted significantly in the current year. For older sales, see #5.

5. Here is is useful place to find old sales totals : http://www.vidcapper.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/...lesSummary.xlsx (I may switch to a DropBox link soon)

6. Finally, please check the thread before requesting estimates - they may already have been answered.

Thank you.

Christmas With Love last week/total sales?
The Top 20 Year End Albums compares quite nicely to 2012's if you ignore what the Top 4 sold that year. The same amount of albums passed 600k, just one less passed 500k this year, two more albums passed 400k this year and the #20 sold more copies than the #20 in 2012.

Any sales info this week for What About Us and Disco Love?

So Leona was right to be awarded gold for her Xmas album this week then!

One more week & Counting Stars would have been up to no7 in the singles & one more week of decent album sales & the whole top 5/6 would have been close to topping Emelis sales!

anybody know if 'What About Us' made the top 40 Year-End? :)

It looks like it'll be #37.

:yahoo: Na na na na na na   :w00t:

When you do the full list, could I get the estimate for 21's sales for 2013? Thanks!
#16 in the albums seems so low for Daft Punk after the huge hype and first week sale. Despite the lack of any HUGE albums this year, sales at the lower end of the top 20 are much higher which is good. Pleasing to see the top ten singles all over 700k, unlucky for Bastille to be #11 on both charts! And the four million sellers are great, seems like we'll continue to get mega hits, even if the market does decline massively again. In 2003-6 by contrast, the singles market was dead and even era defining huge sellers seemed to cease to exist aside from X Factor/charity releases.

I'm not sure though, because the four million-sellers came before the sales started collapsing at the end of the summer. However, there was Roar and Counting Stars afterwards. I think 2014's sales will be back down on a similar level to 2010/2011, so we will probably still get million-sellers, but they won't reach a million as effortlessly as some of the songs this year did.
