This question is interesting me lately - alot of people I know were huge fans with Chasing Lights having seen them on the work tour and then bought wordshaker etc but are not fans anymore so much.

So, to stimulate a tad of debate when does everyone think the Saturday's were at the height of their career? Number one this year, with headlines! or was it another time?

(I personally think just after headlines was released but interested in seeing what you lot think)

They've always fluctuated in my opinion but to me, What about us was their height as you need to take in consideration that it sold 100,000 in the US and almost 1 million people knew about them there (990,000 viewers for CTS premiere). To me, the American conquer thing was their highest peak. Umfortunatley not as high as it could've gone :(
Hard to say, I think the only two times they've been in a REALLY good position is after Chasing Lights (which they buggered up with Wordshaker), and after 'What About Us' (which they screwed up with 'Gentleman').

In terms of sales/public perception/image, basically as a viable pop entity they were on top form basically around the tail end of 2008 through until mid-2009 (Work semi-flopped, but it was a 5th single off the album and sold decently).

In terms of when they were musically best - Wordshaker through to Headlines, which I count as one continual era rather than 2 distinct entities.

In terms of sales/popularity, I would say the Chasing Lights era.

In terms of image, I think it was during the On Your Radar era.

In terms of sound, well that would be What About Us.

I think that towards the end of their Chasing Lights era when Issues was released. & Work sold very well for a 5th single off an already platinum album. They couldn't even match 100k sales with two of their pre-album singles from this era.

I thought they were going to new heights with What About Us, but Gentleman damaged them significantly

I'd say August - November 2010 actually.

24/7 was a success, Missing You was the most played song in the country for two weeks, Higher was a big hit, they were getting radio and TV airplay, Frankie and Dougie were in the papers, Rochelle and Marvin were getting popular, there was no Little Mix/Girls Aloud/Stooshe/Sugababes around, they all looked hot and vocally Vanessa was still amazing and Rochelle was starting to shine alot.

I agree with Shadow. 2010 seemed to be their year. Big singles, successful album, sold out tour, TV shows, heightened public image. They had also matured quite a bit since their debut and their style was very good (bar Mollie's fringe) :P I do think their image was better during the On Your Radar era and they were more successful during the Chasing Lights era, but Headlines! was really the whole package for them. I think they were a lot "cooler" then as well.
