Brillant thread here just love reading through these old charts esp seeing how they changed between 92-95!

Was Dave 'Kid' Jensen they totps presenter in the 70s?

David Jensen was a TOTP presenter from 18th November 1976 which continued until he left R1.

What year did he leave?

He left Radio 1 in 1984 when he joined Capital.

Thanks, basically the Dr Fox of the 80s then :)!

Feel bad watching his totps episodes now lol - I'm a bbc fan!! Anyway looking forward to the totps 1979 show tomorrow!!

He left Radio 1 in 1984 when he joined Capital.
That was the second time he'd left Radio 1. He originally left in September 1980 to take up a job working for CNN in Canada before returning to the UK, and to Radio 1, a year later.

And Finally Change #19

5th January 2014.

Jameela Jamil versus Marvin Humes and Kat Shoob

ILR Presenter Change. (Rich Clarke leaves the show)

The Chart

TBC

Marvin Humes is on everything isn't he? Talk about someone's presence getting annoying...
I thought Lucio was a really good presenter. I think there were some politics going on there when he left suddenly - something to do with Capital vs Heart and he was from the wrong station.
Interesting that in the same week that a new presenter starts on the 'network' chart show, and one with a big fanbase, the BBC chart show is giving its regular host a week off and covering for them with someone not exactly associated with chart music. Can't decide if they are waving the white flag at the commercial opposition, or whether they think the novelty of a guest host on their chart show might stop people being tempted to turn the dial to the new boyband presenter on the rival show. Probably though it's just an unfortunate coincidence.
I don't think either the "new" presenter on the commercial chart or the "substitute" one on the BBC chart will make much of a differnence to figures at all.

I don't think either station(s) is bothered with the number of listeners. One plays out to numbskulls, the other is full of rabbit & trying to copy the other, by running silly competitions in competition with the other one. Radio One gets it's regular small number 1.5 million & so does the other 2.8 million. Both numbers are relatively small for a chart show e.g. 1981 Radio One got 16 million listeners. In 1986 it was 11 million, but Capital's Network Chart had stolen some from Radio One. These days, Radio 2 has more listeners on a Sunday than either show. But I don't bother listening to BBC or Independant stations. Not to my taste.

A bit of information required please. Any takers?

Now in the 2002 to 2005 period, Hit40UK lost out to Radio One, because 2 other Independant Groups were running their own chart shows.

I know the Emap stations were running "The Smash Hits Chart" with Mark Goodier in the 2003 - 2005 slot. The chart based on sales, airplay & votes from Smash Hits TV & The Hits & The Box tv channels. An interesting chart because it gave new #1s, up to 2 weeks ahead & was compiled by MRIB. The votes bit finished in March 2005 & in April 2005, Goodier was replaced by the excellent Robin Banks, for the final 6 months. It ceased in September 2005 & the Emap group, then started to take Hit40UK, with Lurcio...Well that's what I called him!

Meanwhile another group of stations (was it the original Heart?) ran The A List with Melanie Sykes & A.N. Other presenter, where the chart was a confusing Artist chart, taking in Album & Single sales....Anyone any other info on that rather strange show? How long did it run & who was the other co-presenter etc?
