March 2, 201411 yr YAY FROZEN *.* Would be amazing if it could make another $64 million to be the biggest animated film ever, but I think that's probably just out of reach.

It's now nearly doubled it's $180 million budget.A Million Days to Die in the West not looking to do too well. Seems as though a Western will never do well again in the near future no matter what the genre within that may be. Can't say I'm disappointed though. At least Seth has Ted 2 coming up!22 Jump Street has also trebled it's predecessor's debut in the UK so maybe doubling the budget does equal doubling the profit :kink:The Fault in our Stars only has a budget of £12 million so there's going to be a massive profit there! Although, it was expected really.Edge of Tomorrow not doing too well. Currently, it's only grossed $150 million of it's $175 million budget. I was astonished when I saw it's budget especially when there's $100 million for promotion on top of that :drama: It never looked like it was going to be a big hit so I don't know why they've invested so much into it. June 12, 201411 yr Thanks Rabbit! :D 'The Fault In Our Stars' broke a pre-sales record in the US I believe! So strange considering other films of a similar ilk ('Now Is Good'/'Love & Other Drugs'/'The Vow' et al) didn't do nearly as well. It's looking to be pretty big over here too! The "Special Advanced Fan Screening" we had of it today at work, sold out our 2nd biggest screen (239 or something) and another 130+ seat theater! I'm predicting about 4 million opening weekend (depending on the weather of course, although today didn't stop the fans)

It has grossed over $660 million in comparison to X-Men: The Last Stand's $460 million. Edited June 17, 201411 yr by Rabbit Heart
June 17, 201411 yr Happy with how "Belle" did, even if it may not look like much it surpassed my low expectations (it was a very good watch too). Disappointed to see TFIOS go 1-5 in the US and fall behind "Maleficent" and "Edge of Tomorrow", excited to see how it opens in the UK though. That "Chef" movie is having a consistent albeit low run in the US.

Disappointed to see TFIOS go 1-5 in the US and fall behind "Maleficent" and "Edge of Tomorrow", excited to see how it opens in the UK though. That "Chef" movie is having a consistent albeit low run in the US. The reasons chef is having that run is mostly because the theater count is pretty small and it has been expanding most weeks Anyway TFIOS had a fanatic hold for Monday in America (down just 14%). What a massive hit

It's also managed to gross over $1 million, becoming the 18th highest grossing film worldwide, though that is largely down to China where it has been a massive success, grossing over $300 million and becoming the highest grossing movie there. It's also considerably more than the $240 million it grossed in the US.Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has proven to be a (slightly) bigger success than it's predecessor, especially in the opening weekend, grossing more than $20 million more. Notably, this is how much more it's grossed worldwide than Rise of...Hercules has proven to be more of a success than The Legend of Hercules (which failed to reclaim it's budget) but it still hasn't proven to be too successful with it only claiming back $136 million of it's $100 million budget. The Purge: Anarchy has performed similarly to it's predecessor and has grossed $95 million in total. Mrs Browns Boys is sadly just as successful at the box office as it is on TV and has grossed nearly $15 million :(Guardians of the Galaxy was a bigger success than I thought when it was first announced but, it's done as I expected once I saw the trailer! Glad we've got a successful movie based on characters that haven't really been explored previously in films rather than falling back on the usual Batman/Superman/Spiderman etc. It's had the 3rd biggest opening in the US this year and has currently grossed over $300 million worldwide.Pudsey the Dog: the Movie was a bit of a flop, oops. By the looks of the trailer though, it deserved it though! The Inbetweeners 2 had the biggest opening of the year in the UK! It was a tiny bit down on the previous film though.Step Up 5 had a lower opening in the US than the previous film.

(13) Boyhood - $2,150,000 Oops at 'The Expendables 3', down by nearly $13 million from it's predecessor in the US even though it's a PG-13 rating (aka 12A), compared to the previous films' R rating (15/18). I suppose that may have put people off though and it was leaked beforehand.'Let's Be Cops' has an alright opening I suppose. It doesn't really have the star appeal, has an R rating as well as being 12% on Rotten Tomatoes.Hector... was a bit of a flop in the UK. It wasn't exactly going to be massive but to only gross £200,000 is a bit embarrassing especially if you look at the names involved.
August 20, 201410 yr I think there will be an Expendebles 4, purely because I think it will do well in overseas markets and in DVD sales. The leaking probably didn't help, but I also thought they placed too much emphasis on the newer group, when I think it's the nostalgia element that made it a success in the first place. They're awful movies, but they're made fun by the cast, not like the likes of Kellan Lutz.
August 20, 201410 yr Haven't they already confirmed a 4th one? I know Pierce Brosnan has said he's been asked to be in it and the director (I think) said it had the go ahead. This was all before this one did so poorly though, so who knows. The Expendabelles is happening so I guess it would make sense to do another male one too.
August 20, 201410 yr Author Just had a look and it appears that there are plans for a 4th and a 5th film. They'll probably still go ahead with the 4th but I'm guessing the 5th might not be as safe now. I didn't know they were doing a female version! Looks like a female ensemble cast might become more of a thing then if that and the new Ghostbusters film does well.
