I'm not sure why they mentioned "as long as she approves of the line-up" because this surely applies to all guest performers rather than just Madonna (she's not THAT much of a Queen!).

 

Also I've never heard of a guest performer pulling out just because they don't like the contestants. I'd have thought they'd be more concerned about promoting!

The point is as a guest in the final she'd probably be performing with one of them (superstar duet) so she has to want to.

 

Personally I'm calling bs on the story, partly because all the signs point to no album til 2015, and just because I think she would consider it beneath her.

Belgian singer-songwriter Paul Van Haver aka Stromae will be the guest of tomorrow's episode of "College Tour", a popular TV show that some describe as the Dutch rendition of "Inside the Actors Studio".

A preview for the episode aired today - in the clip Twan Huys, the show host told Stromae that he had to give him the message that Madonna would like him to come to her house after the taping of the show.

 

"Stromae starts laughing and says he doesn't have time for that" - MadonnaTribe contributor Rico reports - "and then he gets that its not a joke and says: of course!!!

 

"Made me filled with joy just thinking of the combination Madonna/Stromae and the sick music that could become for the new album," Rico also says, "the shows airs tomorrow evening so maybe more news then".

Diplo says the first single has been chosen

In the interview he talked about his work with Madonna on her new album and said that they have finished there work together, the first single has been chosen and it is one of his tunes. He also revealed that five songs from their recording session should be on the final tracklist and tracks are in the mixing stage at the moment. The sessions were fun and most of his tracks have a Reggae vibe, he also added.

Reggae, eh? Sounds interesting, and not so bandwagon-y with 'Rude' by MAGIC' being the only reggae style chart hit of the year.

You two are working on Madonna’s new record together, right?

Yeah, we have been working on that for the last month. It’s been a lot of fun, definitely a big project. It’s me and Dahi, Diplo, Ariel [Rechtshaid] and Jimbo. I think it’s definitely going to be a good Madonna record. There are moments when you’re like, Oh this is definitely f*cking Madonna.

Are you guys aiming for something really contemporary sounding with it?

I wouldn’t say were trying to nail 2014. With most artists, Dahi and I try to approach it from a longevity standpoint. Especially if we’re pitching beats to someone its like, Is this f***ing hot this month? Because this record won’t be out for another year. That can be stressful, but the bottom line is like making room for the song, because the song is really what stands the test of time. I feel like right now a lot of pressure to get that single, and get that dance tune. That’s probably the coolest thing about Madonna. She has been doing so many records for so long, it’s kind of irrelevant to try to fit into the now.

There's a song of his called 'Lemonade' in that link, which is a bit rubbish so not looking good for whatever it is that he and Madonna create. :(

It's not the usual thing I'd listen to but that's much better than the 'Lemonade' track and it gives me hope that Madonna can mix fresh and dance together again.

If they send out an invite every year, she probably doesn't want to perform! :P That said she's not really had anything to promote during the X Factor period of each year or she may be busy with touring or other projects. We'll just keep dreaming!
