After a couple of listens I'd have to call this as definitely her worst album. It's so overwhelmingly faceless. These songs could all be by anyone (and anyone else would sing them better). I can see myself going back to Hold Tight, Inside Out, Body Shop, Iconic and Joan of Arc a few times. But this is a weak record.

I'm sure it'll be your favourite Mdolla album ever evah evah!

MDNA says hi tho

MDNA is utterly faceless, but the songs themselves are considerably better than this. This is faceless AND shit.
I don't think mdna is utterly faceless. It has considerably more Madonna dna in it than this album.
What has she done to Rebel Heart (the song)? Surely wires were crossed somewhere and the demo is actually the final version and vice versa? :drama:
It's absolutely ridiculous, she ripped the pop heart out of it and replaced it with yet more CRAP. I'm beginning to think that this woman should never record anything ever again as she has clearly lost it and it ain't EVER coming back.
I have not listened to the updated album leak. I think we have been given enough and can wait until the official release!
The leaks seem to have done some good - the album's up to #60 on the Amazon Best Sellers. Highest it's been in a while.

Oh dear reading these reviews has properly upset me :/

Anyway listening to it now and trying to go in with a blind view of what it could be like. The first three tracks are incredible... should i stop listening now? Lol.

It depends, do you like the next 3 too? L4L, Ghosttown and Devil Pray are all very good songs, the next 3 are abysmal and some of the worst of her career. If you like those though, then you'll probably like a good portion of the album. I'd add Rebel Heart, Addicted, Inside Out and Messiah to that list for sure and maybe a few others. I guess 10/29(ish) isn't the worst thing ever, but from my musical queen I guess I just expected better than a one in three hit rate.

I grew to appreciate 'Bitch, I'm Madonna' and to a lesser extent 'Unapologetic Bitch' but 'Illuminati' remains dreadful.

A few new songs heard now~ 'Joan of Arc' is dull, 'Hold Tight' and 'Iconic' are decent, 'HeartBreakCity' is really good. 3 seconds into 'Body Shop' and i am already cringing. So a mixed bag so far

I'm a little happier to know that the parts people find bad are similar to 'Bitch I'm Madonna', 'Unapologetic Bitch' and 'Illuminati' as I rather like them, particularly the former. I completely see why people would hate them and tbh I probably wouldn't like them as much had they not been Madonna's, but still, if they're what's considered the worst then I think I'm going to like the album! :P
Have you heard S.E.X yet Bal? If you thought Holy Water's lyrics were bad.....

Not got to it yet, but very excited for it now

'Holy Water' is one of the "highlights" (or at least one of the ones i'll remember most) for me so far though. I do like a bit of crazy-donna if done well.

Preferred the 'Wash All Over Me' demo to this version </3

'S.E.X.' was ok and what i've come to expect from her sluttier side now ~

Lol at the overreaction to the new version of 'Rebel Heart'. It's not THAT different at all and if anything, it sounds more solid like this. I was a huge fan of the demo and this is just as good so CALM THE f*** DOWN JOHN.

I just came here to mention how Rebel Heart didn't sound THAT different to me :kink: Parts of it are different and I miss the post-chorus instrumental from the demo but it's definitely not been butchered.
Glad to hear 'Rebel Heart' is still safe! Phew. Still can't get over it being a deluxe-only track; surely they realised how popular it was when it leaked first time round?
Aww 'Beautiful Scars' and 'Queen' are lovely, especially the former  Why are these bonus tracks over some of the trashy "trying to be hip" ones that've made the main album?
