Not only the best Eurovision song, but also the best song, which was ever recorded.

Really happy with Bardo's result. :)

Stay off that wine...

Wine? More like HEROIN.

My oh my, this is quite the section! Running theme here is songs that should have won. For instance, Selma's 1999 runner up that lost to the, admittedly brilliant but dated, fellow nordic fave Ms Perelli (then Nillson), Germany's iconic way of getting round the mid 90s language rule by including as many cognates and instantly recognisable German words as possibly ('Wo ist de Party?", imagine THAT in a sea of ballads), two brilliant entries from 2001 in the form of a French celine pastiche ballad and the first appearance of R ELENA, the loser of the 1991 tiebreak to fanboy fave (or anti-fave, I'm not sure!) Ms Carola and a premium slice of Russian trash pop from the year of eternal darkness that is ESC 2007. Oh and the epic sax guy.

For those of you unfamiliar with some of these tracks, allow me to educate you:

Germany 94

France 91

Iceland 99 (featuring a fabulously late 90s europop style video!)

Sod R ELENA, the big priority THERE is the first appearance of R SHIRL *.*

What a FABULOUS ROUND too. Old NASHA and MeKaDo should obviously be FAR HIGHER but I'm resigned to brilliance being ignored in favour of the likes of DUM FUCKING TEK TEK in the top twenty by this point anyway.

CHRIST. All of my faves are dropping off like flies. Alvedansen. :(

Almost gave points to Sandie Shaw, but then realised I like Lily Allen's 'Alfie' better.

Serebro were my favourite Eurovision entry for a long while.

Surprised only myself and one more person voted for Antique! :o

I Would Die For You is TOTAL ART but having only thirty entries to choose from really cut me deep. It was the same for C'est le dernier qui a parlé actually - which has always been one of my MASSIVE all time favourites but which only ended up 35th after ranking :(

I don't think I had that many tracks to rank from tbh, but I only have extensive knowledge from 2003 onwards.

Still, some classics are forever. [Parlez Vous Francais? ]

OK, In contrast to my last section, my job here is to SIFT the SHIT. Entries of note are: Rare occurances of good UK result in the 21st century and deserved Turkish top 10, a pair of divas with an extra bit of HEFT in 69 and 70, Malta's best ever entry, A masterclass in early 00s eurodance in 'Energy' and POOR BRAVE KATE RYAN. The rest falls somewhere between mediocre and bad. (DAZ SAMPSON? KALOMIRA? REALLY?)

Like really at this rate none of my top 30 will be in the actual top 30. :drama: 'Dinle' is FAR too low though. 'In Your Eyes' I can understand because it's a standard ballad but the nostalgia.
67. United Kingdom 2006// Daz Sampson - Teenage Life

(gooddelta - 9th, smiffj - 11th)

Excuse me?

I'm SICK with RAGE that Energy is beneath Kalomoira's REHEATED TIMBALAND COVER

I'm DRIFTIN' AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
