Shouldn't they both be new entries as

Alesso vs. OneRepublic and Imagine Dragons feat. Kendrick Lamar?

No, both versions are combined and credited to the original (although the former should be credited to Alesso vs. OneRepublic tbh as that's the version they're pushing here)

I "love" the idea when they combine different singles ;)

I can sort of get why you would say 'Radioactive' 'should be' a new entry even though I very much disagree with it but why on Earth would 'If I Lose Myself' be a new entry this week? The Alesso version has been selling more for the song's entire existence.

Okay, got it. I thought that the Alesso's version got a proper iTunes single release last week or so, so that's why I assumed it should be a new entry this week. I've checked the UK iTunes and noticed it's on the album iTunes re-release and is available since mid-December. My fault then, sorry ;)

Why? It's just a Remix of Radioactive (but also featured Kendrick Lamar). Remixes are always combined with the main version.

The reason I omitted the Alesso vs. bit, Radio 1 site has dropped it, OCC have also dropped it, even MW have jumped on it now. So I guessed everything got added to the main version.

Yes, but in this case it shouldn't be as it's been released far after the original "single" was huge. I know nowadays it's quite difficult to distinguish the versions, but from my prospective it's a new release and should be listed as new entry (even if it would be combined with the original version).

well it's not like 10 years has gone since the original release plus it was still charting, and it's not even a newly produced version so I don't agree with you at all.

I think it's nowhere near like Guru Josh - Infinity from 1990 and then in the 2008s Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008.

Edit: More questionable was DJ Fresh's Gold Dust, which was released in 2010 than 2 years after a new version was released, still it was combined and not classed as a new entry.

Those are 2 different tracks from 2 different artists ;)

But Radioactive reminds me the good old physical singles' days when there was a single followed by 1-2 other singles followed by the remixed/featured re-release of the original single. In addition to that it was the Kendrick Lamar version which it gained its sales for.

Than let's say Dr Alban It's My Life and Dr Alban It's My Life 2014 ;)

Than tell me more about the DJ Fresh situation ;)

I think both album and single positions are fantastic for Sheryl. I never expected the album to make top 20 or the single to chart (especially seen as I bought Easy nearly a year ago now) and I have high hopes the album and single might stick around a couple more weeks.

She did BBC Breakfast this morning and has Graham Norton repeat tonight, the album is still #16 on itunes and Easy #68.

It's My Life should be treated separately, as it's a completely new release.

DJ Fresh should have been a new entry as well. Thank god I list titles according to their latest single credit if any.

That's what I'm saying too

But I wouldn't count the Imagine Dragons situation the same that's all I'm saying.

^ Wow, thanks for that very comprehensive reply- I'd forgotten about a few of those factors. I do think I had an inflated idea of its crossover appeal but I still would have thought it'd hang around a little longer due to its huge exposure. Anyway, it's still on course to become their second-highest seller soon :)

Ive always thought of it as quite seasonal too because of the videos xmas scene & reminicent content!

Was the Soulja Boy or Kid Cudi singles in the mid noughties similar to this? I remember 2 versions of Kid Cudi def charted in Jan 2008 i think - the non remix version only got to 38 or something and the danced up version no2?

I have no idea about Kid Cudi, Soulja Boy - Turn My Swag On, you mean this? There was a remix version, which was from a different artist: Greg Street Featuring Soulja Boy Tell'em And Keri Hilson

If I remember well, he was credited but in reality it was a fake version without Soulja Boy

Ah right i see now, remember that - it woulda been at the start of the download era so people were just getting used to things.

Just checked Polyhex - and this was the only chart run for Day 'N' Nite -

24/01/2009 Kid Cudi Vs Crookers Day 'N' Nite 2

To be pedantic, it's a re-recording rather than a remix, but you're right, these days all versions will get combined and be effectively added to the "basic" version.

Years ago it would have been treated as a new entry, but not now.

I think it was because physical CDS had some catalogue numbers or something like that, and singles with different catalogue numbers were charting separately. See also imports. I can remember singles charting as an import lower down, and when they had the official release, they were new entries again but a lot higher on the chart.

Really happy to see Sheryl Crow get a better peak than she has for her last 3 albums. Feels Like Home is a woderful album.
