February 3, 201411 yr The cough that starts it off is iconic. When she kicks in for the first time too!? Goosebumps every time. For shame BJ. This, so much <3 Donatella isn't a MASSIVE loss but Jewels N Drugs is in my top 5 of the album. Could do with one less rap (ie. cut out Too $hort) but Gaga's parts especially are fantastic *.*
February 4, 201411 yr Donatella last... :o And here I was thinking it was a fan fave and would make a good single, lol...
February 4, 201411 yr donatella is a tune. jewels is decent, manicure or aura should be the next to go hopefully.
February 4, 201411 yr Author 13. 'Fashion!' Average: 5.80 http://theinfamousjcity.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/lady-gaga-fashion.jpg Claiming the final spot of the rate is Gaga's collab with will.i.am and David Guetta. Who'd have thought? Lady Gaga revealed through a track by track overview of ARTPOP on The Howard Stern Show that the song is about being able to get dressed up and feel like you own the world, as she describes in the lyrics: "I think sometimes people always thought that when i was getting dressed up or, you know, putting on my outfits, or doing my live shows that it was for attention, but I really feel a sense of growth and a feel of confidence about myself and I'm able to transform, and that's what this is about, and I think other people do too, just maybe on a smaller scale than I do." This is the second song written by Gaga with the title, "Fashion", and the fourth overall to feature the word. The others being "Fashion" (2009), "Fashion of His Love" and "Black Jesus † Amen Fashion". Gaga references "Marry the Night" in the line 'married to the night'. "Fashion!" was the only song title that wasn't mentioned prior the track list release. It is also the only song to not score a 10 or 11 in the rate. On The Red Carpet Review: In another song that idealizes the fashion world, Gaga "is looking good and feeling fine" on this mid-tempo track. When compared to "Donatella", the song serves as a, sort of, cousin to the designer-loving tune.Dazed Review: And you could quite happily do away with "Donatella", "Mary Jane Holland" and "Fashion!" – EDM bangers that mash up current pop trends rather than tearing them a new one. Billboard Review: Perhaps the most straightforward on "ARTPOP," "Fashion!" is a fist-pumping throwback that is unafraid to play up its campiness and exalt the process of "looking good and feeling fine." An inoffensive partner to "Donatella" on the track list, "Fashion!" once again underlines the suggestion that Gaga's impact on culture extends well beyond the music world.Popdust Review: The staple to Gaga is her music, but fashion is a close second! Usually I think Gaga's voice resonates with listeners and is quite recognizable but compared to other tracks on this album this song is pretty weak in terms of her passion while singing it. That being said, the melody to this song does sound a lot like Madonna's "Holiday" with similar content as "Material Girl". It's more Madonna than Gaga (so we had to deduct a few points for lack of originality), but Gaga and Madonna do have many parallels. Popdust says: 3/5 MTV Review: Again, the super-danceable Daft Punk instrumental saves song No. 11 from a lower rating. It's just, like, we get it. Lady Gaga likes fashion - sorry, "Fashion!" Nevertheless, although Our Lady of Reverse Warholianism doesn't really provide any new insights into her well-documented love affair with haute couture, the track still deserves a moderate tip of the outrageous, gravity-defying Philip Treacy hat. The loud and bouncy 'Swine' slots in at the lower end of the rate. 'Swine' was written by Lady Gaga and produced by DJ White Shadow in 2012 for Gaga's third studio album, ARTPOP. It is an electro house and dance-pop song that also displays elements of europop and dubstep. The instrumentation is described as infectious pumped-up synthesizers. She revealed the song title during an interview through V with Marina Abramović. Gaga has posted photos that reference the song on Little Monsters. Some of the illustrations and photos Gaga uploaded revealed lines from the song. On August 17, 2013, Gaga dubbed her iTunes Festival performance, 'SwineFest', as a reference to the track. On The Red Carpet Review: The song is club-ready, featuring immense EDM production during the song's chorus. Lyrics for the song include "I know, I know, I know, I know you want me / You're just a pig inside a human body." The song is a standout on the album, for its aggressively dance driven beat that is sure to be a hit at nightclubs across the world.Dazed Review: 'Swine' which felt so good at the iTunes festival with bungeeing pigs in radiation suits, doesn't quite find its feet here, lost in a 4/4 thud. Billboard Review: Gaga transports her listeners to an angry corner in her mind on the shrieking industrial number "Swine." The singer sounds physically disgusted as she cuts an "animal" out of her life, and the squealing keyboards concoct a sense of mayhem as she rails against the unnamed pig. "Swine" isn't as accessible or cleverly penned as other "ARTPOP" tracks, yet as far as detours go, this one's fascinating.Popdust Review: Damn, electric music has become a staple on this album, which I can't say I'm upset about. Using a similar structure to G.U.Y, she keeps the intro and chorus heavy with electric backing while her hook stays very fresh, clean and simple. These lyrics are sang in a way that deflects actual meaning: "you're just a pig inside a human body" while repeating the words "swine" in the chorus, damn Gaga that's harsh! Popdust says: 4/5 MTV Review: At Lady Gaga's iTunes Music Festival - opening set back in September, "Swine" was easily one of the standout tracks. However, the unbridled energy and relentless rage exhibited on the London stage don't quite translate onto this studio recording. Look for this on the inevitable ARTPOP Ball tour, though. February 4, 201411 yr I think 'Swine' deserves higher than that, it does drag a bit and feel a chore for me to listen to sometimes though but it is one of the album's better tracks.
February 4, 201411 yr The live Swine was so fabulous. Doesn't work in studio unfortunately. :( Agreed. Venus next, please. Should have been 100th.
February 4, 201411 yr Swine is the best on the album! WTH!! This forum has really random taste in songs
February 4, 201411 yr Swine is the best on the album! WTH!! This forum has really random taste in songs  Oops, read that as Venus for a minute for some reason :S Swine is really good live. Edited February 4, 201411 yr by Michael!
February 4, 201411 yr Two bogus tracks that never should have made the album. Swine showed potential to be amazing and the instrumental that opens Fashion! is lovely but that's about it.
February 5, 201411 yr Fashion is very underrated, its laidback simple feel is what makes it so appealing and the production is lush!

The song title was revealed by Gaga when she tweeted lyrics on August 9th, 2013, around 2:00 PM. August 9th is also her father, Joe Germanotta's birthday, which is a possibility why Gaga revealed it that day. A snippet was released October 28, 2013. This song about marijuana originally showed up in a "Monstervision" video, The Adventures of Mary Jane Holland, which Gaga posted to YouTube on August 19, 2013. The usage of Mary Jane as a slang term for marijuana is an obvious one given their similarities. The word marijuana itself derives from the Mexican Spanish word for the drug, marihuana. Other Pop artists who have used the phrase as a song title in a weed context include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Rick James and probably The Association. Gaga explained during a Sirius XM special that Mary Jane Holland was an alter ego she adopted while smoking weed in Amsterdam to help with her anxiety. Popdust Review: In case you didn't get the reference, she threw "Holland" in the title so we know this song is about risque, yet increasingly more socially acceptable drug, Marijuana. We've got Miley Cyrus smoking joints at the EMAs in Amsterdam this weekend, maybe we'll soon see Gaga on the red carpet in a dress made out of herb. Good to know all these pop stars are getting high to maximize their creative ability. As for the song, while it starts out strong with a tantalizing dance beat, it lacks depth, and it's absence of strong chorus and catchy lyrics makes it become lost in this album. Maybe she should have recorded it sober? Popdust says: 3/5On The Red Carpet Review: The rock-inspired track, which would have rested nicely among 2011's "Born This Way" album offerings, Gaga yearns to channel the persona of a character named Mary Jane Holland. The song's production lends to a smooth transition to live performances, one that is sure to be a favourite in concert. Billboard Review: Peer beyond the weed references and focus on the intensity of whirring beats soundtracking them -- "Mary Jane Holland" finds Gaga dabbling in a sea of squelchy rhythms, which eventually pull back and float over the admission, "I know that Mom and Dad think I'm a mess/ But it's all right, because I am rich as piss." Searching for answers in the form of a new identity, Gaga's voice survives just long enough to outlast the EDM storm.MTV Review: An interesting complement to the skinny, rich blonde of "Donatella," "Mary Jane Holland" documents what happens when Mother Monster's "brunette starts to sprout" away from the public eye. Unfortunately, the track hesitates between a full-on Gagaloo belter and mood-setting The Fame-era electro-pop - ultimately settling on neither. RATING: 3 Venus de Milos out of 5.
