In case you've forgotten, Major was the last Tory leader who managed to get a majority. Now 22 years ago and counting :kink: You're in desperate need of someone who comes from a relatively normal upbringing like that. Say what you want, but people are NEVER going to accept that they should be told they need to suffer cuts when that message is coming from a pampered prince(ss) who's never had to do a hard day's work in their life - and Boris WOULD fall into that category if he was carrying out the kind of policies the current government are, no matter how much popularity he might have right now when he's carefully avoiding being associated with the government's snobby and anti-poor policies. Most of the country now don't care if bankers or other so-called "wealth-creators" flee to other countries. Most of the country think more money should be spent on the NHS and education.

The bid was won under Ken Livingstone with a lot of help from Seb Coe and Tony Blair. Most of the organisation was overseen by Coe, not Johnson (or Livingstone before him). Besides, foreign buyers were buying London properties long before the Olympics so trying to link the two simply does not work.

Thankfully the front pages of the press don't always reflect public opinion.
