June 3, 201411 yr The first streaming-including chart could provide some pretty... interesting movements. :P
June 3, 201411 yr Could this decrease Problem's chances of #1 or is it still likely. I'm so confused by this and not happy at all :(
June 3, 201411 yr Could this decrease Problem's chances of #1 or is it still likely. I'm so confused by this and not happy at all :( I can't see Problem missing #1, it will sell so much in its first week that nothing will beat it even if it's not doing particularly well on streaming
June 3, 201411 yr The first streaming-including chart could provide some pretty... interesting movements. :P I would expect all the big 2013 hits (and early 2014 hits like Rather Be) and all the guitar/indie songs to climb a lot that week.
June 3, 201411 yr I hope it's only audio streaming sites that are to be included. I don't think it's a fair playing field if you include YouTube videos.
June 3, 201411 yr Anyway, yay for this happening! Suddenly the charts become more relevant to today's music consumers :D Looking forward to seeing how streaming affects the chart. I agree with this, streaming will make the chart far more relevant. ^_^ I would expect all the big 2013 hits (and early 2014 hits like Rather Be) and all the guitar/indie songs to climb a lot that week. The likes Avicii, Route 94, Duke Dumont, David Guetta, Mr. Probz, Calvin Harris will also benefit from the addition of stream plays. :)
June 3, 201411 yr On napster which I subsribe to their current number 23 song is Adele- someone like you, Passenger and Let Her go is also still proving very popular
June 3, 201411 yr It depends. In the US One Direction do well on Youtube streaming, but not so well on Spotify streaming. I reckon it'd be the same here. I hope they are going to include Youtube and other sites like that, since it's the only thing that can provide excitement to the charts imo. And how mr Blob? If something costs nothing it won't add anything to the tracks chart progress. Simple logic  Youtube and other similar channels shouldn't be added anyway. There should be a separate video chart for those. Paid streamings should be counted though, this is the future if not present, so the sales chart should move on too.

Are you sure you quoted the right person? The likes Avicii, Route 94, Duke Dumont, David Guetta, Mr. Probz, Calvin Harris will also benefit from the addition of stream plays. :) Yeah, so would Iggy Azalea, John Legend, Disclosure, Macklemore and Beyonce, but they all fall into the category of "recent hits which will be kept high for longer by streaming". But in general it's the older songs and guitar/indie songs which benefit the most. Edited June 3, 201411 yr by Eric_Blob

June 3, 201411 yr Huh? Are you sure you quoted the right person? Yes pretty sure only you can say such silly things that free video sites should be added to a sales chart :P

June 3, 201411 yr Of course streaming is a good thing to include, if more people are using it, discovering songs through it and experiencing the value of a song through listening to it. I'd stop with video, but if it's popular enough with all other formats dying out then it must.
June 3, 201411 yr Hmmm. Okay then. Hmmm Youtube... I mean you said you hope they will include Youtube.
June 3, 201411 yr The simple solution is to just make the chart a chart of revenue, therefore it's a completely fair weighting, can't be that hard to calculate.
June 3, 201411 yr The simple solution is to just make the chart a chart of revenue, therefore it's a completely fair weighting, can't be that hard to calculate. This is how the German chart works and streaming (with paid subscription) is already included there since February.
June 3, 201411 yr Not that it's important, but the VEVO Top 10 UK Most Streamed Videos chart looks interesting: 01 - Fancy - Iggy Azalea f/ Charli XCX 02 - La La La (Brazil 2014) - Shakira f/ Carlinhos Brown 03 - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) - Mr. Probz 04 - Dark Horse - Katy Perry f/ Juicy J 05 - Stay With Me - Sam Smith 06 - I Will Never Let You Down - Rita Ora 07 - Summer - Calvin Harris 08 - Loyal - Chris Brown et al 09 - Problem (Lyric Video) - Ariana Grande f/ Iggy Azalea 10 - All Of Me - John Legend
June 3, 201411 yr Hmmm Youtube... I mean you said you hope they will include Youtube. I said I wanted them to include Youtube because it will make the charts faster moving than if it was just sites like Spotify (I'm basing this off over 2 years following other charts which have streaming included). Nothing to do with it being free or having videos (and also, Spotify can be used for free, and songs without music videos still can get lots of streams on Youtube, so that proves people use Youtube for listening to music, not only for watching videos). It doesn't matter that it's a "sales chart" anymore. Once they add any kind of streaming, whether free or paid for by subscriptions (Spotify is both), it's not a sales chart.

June 3, 201411 yr Streaming would have had affect I think on a few songs that were very popular a couple of years back but not streaming, paradise by coldplay wasn't streaming at first as far as i know, certainly Taylor Swift's songs I Knew You Were Trouble and 22 weren't for some time either.
