If we're talking Pixar 'conspiracy' theories, just looks at this one, it's...interesting (takes a while to get your head around)

Yeh, I was going to link to that when I finished the results , a very interesting theory though!

My mistake when writing the post, I hadn't put it down on the actual spreadsheet so it doesn't alter anything.

Monsters Inc. My favourite Pixar film (and up there amongst my favourite films of all time) so beware of the looney post that follows. Yes, this may have been helped by the fact that it was at the centre of my childhood but even trying to forget that, it's such a good film! With it being a Pixar rate though, I can't really complain at it's position, out of the four left, there's only Up that I would say that it shouldn't have beaten this but that's still a really good film. It also highlights how universal Monsters Inc is, as well as the quality of Pixar, when the number five has 6s and 7s as the lowest! Anyway, more about the actual film. The idea was thought of during the production of Toy Story in 1994 and once again, they looked at childhood beliefs. It followed on from the idea that toys came to life when you weren't there to the fear of monsters coming out of the wardrobe. This idea formed the basis of the film as, in order to create energy, the monsters must transport themselves, by stepping through a door, to childhood bedrooms and making them scream. The children are seen as toxic to the monsters though and so there most be no other interaction with them. This is where the adorable Boo comes in . It's a real credit to the animators that she becomes the cutest child to ever feature in any film, making the finale the severely devastating. Then, to top it all off, we get that cliffhanger where it teases a happy ending, only we never actually get to see what happens and we probably never will  As mentioned before, Monsters University saw my dreams come true with the announcement of a sequel only to see them shattered when it was stated that it was actually going to be a prequel [/bitter] Boo is the best thing about the film but that doesn't mean that there aren't numerous other highlights! There's the strange pairing of Mike and Sulley that somehow works so well (and is paid off even further after watching the prequel), Roz obvs, Celia and her snakes, the slippery and slimy Randell and above all, the fantastic door scene in the finale. I'm bringing it up again but the animation is possibly their best as they're tackling thousands of different doors that Sulley/Mike/Boo and Randell are chasing around while also shifting between completely different places within the doors. As I said, this is my favourite Pixar film. I love the, once again, unique storyline and how we get to see the human world from an outside perspective where we are able to sympathise with both sides. It also has adult tones with the ruthless corporation of Monsters Inc. Overall, it is a thoroughly emjoyable film, taking the best of Pixar and making it into an 11/10 film.

ROZ. I watched this again when it was re-released in 3D and whilst that didn't add anything to it, I think seeing it on the big screen really made me appreciate how damn good this looks. It's got a great story and great characters too, so it's a win win.
Good, but not really aged that well
I love this. To me, it's so close to being as good as Toy Story. It only lacks the amount of amazing characters.
I think the order of the results matches my ratings, give or take 1 or 2 perhaps. Good to know my taste isn't completely off the wall. And I also like that I've got a quote on each result so far. Simple things and all that.... :P
The final four at so timeless and strong, I really couldn't call a winner. I'm going to make a wild guess of - 4) Toy Story 3) Up 2) Toy Story 1) Finding Nemo ?

Well we all know that nothing else more needs to be said than this:

Forget anything I've said before and anything that I'll say for your Top 3, THIS is the ultimate Pixar moment. It blurs the lines between a kids movie and an adults movie, helping to create a film that everyone person can enjoy and understand, all without a single word spoken. Even watching it again just then, I had a tear in my eye. It truely is one of my favourite movie scenes ever.

So, it's a bit of a shame then that I'm really not a fan of the 'talking' dogs. I know animated films aren't meant to be realistic but that addition is a step too far for me, especially when the film has so many realistic tendancies to do with relationships (Carl & Ellie, Carl & Russell, Russell & Kevin). Yes, I am aware that I am saying this when the film also involves a home travelling across the world by balloons but that feels more like magic rather than silliness. Talking dogs aside, the moment when the balloons are unveiled really is magical and, once again, one of my favourite Pixar animated scenes. I really enjoy how Pixar also focus on another relatively untouched area in animated films; elderly people. Having an elderly person as the main character is a bold movie for that type of film. It can be stated that Pixar felt it was TOO much of a bold move and Russell was only introduced to counterbalance it by having someone for the children to relate to but ultimately, Russell is still essential to the story. He helps bring Carl out of the loneliness he has suffered since Ellie has gone and the whole film is about the fact that you can move on and get yourself out of that dark hole without forgetting the person in question and still respecting their memory and having them close to you. It's something that will help children if they ever suffer something tragic at a younger age and it's very commendable to Pixar to address this issue and do it SO well.

The opening scene is AMAZING, but sadly the rest never quite lives up to that promise.
Really fantastic. The opening sequence is so poignant and this is a beauty of a film.
This is one of my fave animations ever. One of the few instances where the trailer does not do it justice!

It's not among their best tho so glad it's out

Good showing for Up! A film which has far more levels than most of Pixar's. Hope one of the Toy Story films is #1, although I'm sure they won't be.

The really astonishing thing about Monsters Inc. is the finale with all the doors. An astonishing, epic level of detail. And so exciting.

And I am SORRY, but while the first ten minutes of Up are gorgeous, the rest of the film is just NOT. I enjoy the early sequences with Carl and Russell, but when the bird and especially the f***ing talking dogs show up... no. I'm out. There was a good story to be made of the journey, but they get to the Falls in no time and the rest of it is just an absurd story that literally goes nowhere. I have yet to see a good defence of the latter two thirds of the film.

I liked the talking dogs! It's when they start flying planes that it's a bit stupid, I'll grant you that. There is still plenty to love about the last two thirds - particularly how Ellie's completed book manages to recall the charm of the beginning. I still think it was a big jump forward for Pixar compared to the earlier work. What they need to do now is ditch the "buddy movie" blueprint* and really try something new (or did that already happen?)

* - Loner is befriended by unlikely source or sources, falls out with them, is reunited with buddy or buddies in the face of a common enemy and is happier come the end.

One of my favourite Pixar moments, ever.

I do, but it was worth a try. To be fair I do agree with you that the last 1/3 isn't as good as the rest, but I still think it's enjoyable enough to not really detract from the film as a whole too much. Even at that level it's still better than 90% of other animated films and I say that as a BIG fan of many, many animated films.

There are only 3 Pixar cartoons, which I like (Cars, Brave, Cars 2) and it's bottom 3 in this rate. :)

"Cars 2" is weak, only in comparing with the original "Cars", which was perfect cartoon.
