I doubt it will miss the top ten. 30 Days and Disco Love had awful airplay as well and they went top ten, and of course What About Us went to #1 with shit airplay.

They'll have promotion lined up and they have a big fanbase. If Pixie Lott can go top ten with an airplay peak of #118 then I'm sure The Saturdays can do it as well.

Pre-orders should pick up. We still have three weeks to go.

Of course this is going top 10 lol

The question is : will it pass more than 6 weeks in the top 100? Not so sure if airplay doesn't pick up.

Sure, promo slots on The Voice or whatever are nice, but I fail to see how such a promo slot can promote a song throughout time when it's been done weeks ago and the song is now on its, let say, 5th release week.

There are so many songs that actually go #1 without any sort of performances. It's really isn't the key. I'm not saying that it doesn't help (because it does), but airplay remains the key ingredient.

Promo isn't that helpful. For example, let's say they had released 'Not Giving Up' and then the next week they had fallen a few places and were dark red on Kworb. They could perform on The Voice and it would maybe boost the song up two or three places, then after a few hours the song would go back to dark red and fall again. However if they actually got proper airplay and radio started hammering them, then they'd consistantly be in green/white and would hang around for ages.

I'd take a top ten on radio over promo on The Voice and Alan Carr.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for Wednesday then, If they can go C this week and climb to B next week, they're in for a chance at some decent sales. Currently, the 'Not Giving Up' single mix is nowhere on iTunes.

Omg, same. Especially when you consider the fact that they barely go into the top 10 airplay anymore!

Agreed. Promo is good for a little boost if they're just outside the top 10, top 5, top 3, sitting at number 2 etc, but if you get get 2 or 3+ weeks within the top 15 airplay, it beats anything else.

How is #21 shit airplay? I'd say it pretty good considering airplay usually follows sales?

#21 is shit airplay considering it was their big American single with Sean Paul launching a new era. It was #23 or #24 and I'd say that's pretty poor. Capital FM hammer songs to death before release and so do Radio 1 so I wouldn't say airplay follows sales. If radio only played songs that were established as hits then nothing would be a hit.

I'm not saying it follows completely but surely a #23/#24 song in the airplay chart that is yet to be released will gain more interest than a song that has been out for longer already and is #10 in the airplay chart?

(It usually is the case that airplay follows sales tho, only Capital hammer some act to death, but from what I understand R1 don't

As far as I know songs usually peak shortly after they are being released if they smash)

Agreed, if R1 don't playlist it, I think it could be their lowest charting single. Despite playlisting them, Capital haven't actually played 'Not Giving Up' within daylight peak listening hours of 6.30AM - 7PM once, as of yet. Eek.

Morning radios tend to have the highest audiences due to work travel, but u have to be very lucky to get a play as the breakfast show just ramble on about nothing! Disco Love began to be played in the mornings but stopped abruptly. Still don't know why :(

Things will pick up once R1 playlist them. I don't expect much to happen prior to that.

Ouch.

Less than three weeks to go and the EP is struggling to be top #500 and the single mix is nowhere near the top 1500. I fully believe at the current rate that it's going at 'Not Giving Up' will miss the top 10 which is a great shame because it's one of their best singles to date. '30 Days' may have had poor airplay but it peaked at #18 during release week.

Stop it Lee.

If the song misses the top ten I'll post a picture of myself in my underwear, that's how confident I am!

But it's getting NO daytime airplay. and the iTunes pre-orders are truly atrocious! Unless airplay picks up soon, I think we're looking at a peak similar to 'Work'. Did Radio 1 playlist 'Work'?

Notorious was an OA/OS release and sold 30K+ in it's first week. What About Us was #23 on airplay and sold 114K in it's first week. Radio is NOT everything.

Radio 1 have playlisted all their singles.

687. The Saturdays - Not Giving Up - EP I'd say the EP has built enough pre-orders to go top 5 on iTunes for a short while. it's sad the Single isn't even in pop, though :(

I would normally be confident but Sigma, The Vamps, Iggy will almost definitely be ahead of them - judging by pre-orders. If 'Gentlemen' could miss the top 10 with more airplay support , I'm fairly confident this has a strong chance of missing the top 10.

They need to pick up the pace and step on it. 'Not Giving Up' is doing awful on pre-order wise. Pixie may have peaked at #118 on Radio like you said but at least she had her single mix in the top 600 at this point as well as the EP.

I don't know why anyone is concerned about the single mix anyway. The single mix pre-order idea only started last year. The EP should be the main focus, and the single mix just an extra.
