823. The Saturdays - Not Giving Up - EP

686. The Saturdays - Disco Love

1329. The Saturdays - What About Us (feat. Sean Paul)

Not Giving Up - Single Mix - *tumbleweed* - This NEEDS to enter the top 1,500 in the next few days.

How's it doing in good ol' Ireland?

Nothing, Nowhere.

This release is so frustrating. I can't believe it still isn't getting any airplay.
With no airplay, they'd need pretty strong promo to guarantee a top ten, especially in a week with so many releases.

I'm predicting #16.

I'm pretty much going to be tweeting all radio stations now - this song is too good to be missing out on the top 10. I wouldn't mind if they pushed it back 1-2 weeks though.

Any ideas on why the radio are snubbing this so fiercely? I'd understand if they'd put out another Gentleman, watery ballad or 30 Days...

It's the fifth single of a flop album, following a single that wasn't that much of a hit. Clearly the radios think they have better to play, like first/second/third singles of other (more recent?) artists.

I'm happy though because it means it will have a place in their Greatest Hits, but also in their gigs setlist. So we're gonna hear a lot of 'Not Giving Up'.

I don't think it's going to do as badly as some people think it will (I'm pretty sure it has a chance at the top 10? ), but I'm not expecting anything that different from 30 Days at this point.

I can understand why, 4/5 past singles haven't really done well. My Heart Takes Over (55k), 30 Days (75K), Gentlemen (55k) and Disco Love (120k). On Your Radar may have managed to pass 55,000 while Living For The Weekend will most likely be on 22,000.

They really are on life support at the moment - I wouldn't mind if 'Not Giving Up' was pushed back - If they are promoting the tour they really are going to need a decent enough promo schedule.

It's abysmal that The single mix isn't in the top 1,500.

I'd love to think you're right, but '30 Day's may have had pretty poor airplay but it had some - enough people had heard it to keep it afloat just outside The Saturdays' fan-base. This is getting nothing, which is why I think it'll miss the top 10 by more than a few places, not enough people know about the song and without there being some kind of biggish promo slot to start the week, I just can't see it impacting on iTunes. Even MHTO and Gentleman had better airplay. The *only* thing 'Not Giving Up' has going for it at the moment, is that it's a far superior song to all other songs mentioned in this post.

30 Days did not really do that bad airplay wise - it peaked at #18 during release week which was rather great. Capital snubbed '30 Days' which means it could have went top 15 on airplay had Capital rotated it. #18-#73 on airplay was rather awful / amusing though.
Another low selling top ten (which they'll be lucky to get at this point) will still disappoint me. From an act that's been around for as long as The Saturdays have, and who had a big number 1 a year ago - I'd expect more from such a strong song. I wanted a decent selling peak that managed 2 weeks in the top ten and eventually went silver, which shouldn't be THAT difficult to do, for them, surley?

Just think, this time a year ago 'What About Us' was the biggest song in the UK and The Saturdays were getting hammered on every radio station possible.

Now look at them.

I still think the song is catchy and instant enough that it will take off on iTunes even without airplay. As long as it makes it into the iTunes Top 10 and gets the front page exposure, I think it will do just fine, at least in its first week. Then it will inevitably sink like a rock unless airplay picks up.

EDIT: They need to make a preview clip available!!

It will almost certainly be featured on the 'hot songs' section of iTunes which is sure to help some. I hope they have at least 1 prime-time performance slot. Preferable 2 - one on Sunday and one on the following Friday.
