Waves often lap on a Sandy Shore. Sandie Shaw also won Eurovision for the UK.

Sandie Shaw released a version of this song, about a month after the most popular version by this lady

Good choice! Mary Hopkin got her break on Opportunity Knocks, the show presented by the awful Hughie Green (aka Paula Yates real father). Let's go optimistic (and cynical) though with Opportunities, Pet Shop Boys (previous listing with Liza Minnelli not counted as it wasn't an official duet although they appeared on TOTP with her).. B-)

PSB also worked with Patsy Kensit aka Eighth Wonder

Edited by fiesta

Patsy Kensit has had a string of "rock star" husbands...including Jim Kerr of Johnny and the Self-Abusers, simple-minded Liam Gallagher of Oasis tribute act Beady Eye and Jeremy Healy of Haysi Fantaysee.

But her first husband was Dan Donovan of Big Audio Dynamite, the lead singer of which was Mick Jones who found fame in a much better band. Here he is on lead vocals:

well, since you mention them, I can't let the chance slip by to post this one - one of those records that come out of the blue, sound like nothing that's gone before, and excite me no end. That backdrop rhythm is almost sexually hypnotic. Love it..I proudly learnt all the words to this one

E=MC2.

A bit obvious but who cares? We surely have to go from Einstein's equation to Einstein A Go Go by Landscape

Another famous Go Go is the Whiskey A Go Go, a popular American nightclub. Whiskey is a type of alcohol, and so is Guinness. In 1994 Perez 'Prez' Prado had a surprise #2 hit when his song "Guaglione" was used in an advert for Guinness.

Ok...Perez Prado also wrote the original version of 'Mambo No.5' - a hit twice for Lou Bega...and Bob the Builder.

Bob was / is voiced by Neil Morrissey and he remains the only Morrissey I know who has had a number one single. But, if any other could have been, then I'd have liked it to have been this one...

The lyrics, go "Ain't you heard of the starving millions, ain't you heard of contraception" which if your gonna be pregnant for the last time you probably have

I'm being a smart arse and combining the last two, The Last Time is a Rolling Stones song, and Terry Hall was lead singer of the Specials. Another Hall, Jerry, was Mick jaggers's partner. We've already had the Stones though (complete list available on page 1 of this thread), so why not Bob Dylan's best record Like A Rolling Stone? Cos there's no youtube video, so here instead is his second best...

Knocking On Heaven's Door

I wonder if Heaven's Door has a number 17 on it? No matter, here are Heaven 17 with their debut "hit" (a number 45 smash) (We Don't Need That) Fascist Groove Thang.

Ian Marsh and Martyn Ware of Heaven 17 were founder members of The Human League until their acrimonious split in 1980. So, here's what The Human League went on to do the following year.

When you open your heart you may as well put a zoo in there.

That's a haunting one! Zoo, zoo, zoo, yes, Zoo Gang, forgotten 70's TV series starring among many Brian Keith who'd previously starred in sitcom Family Affair.

A great excuse for Sly & The Family Stone, last seen in the UK 3 or so years back getting booed off the stage at the O2 Bournemouth (Boscombe) and people demanding money back. Tragic really, but midnight on stage, and a permanently faulty microphone, and an unrehearsed band, and a lead singer in a neck brace popping occasionally onto stage for a song does not a great concert make. It was such a memorable train wreck event I was happy to not demand my money back...

Sly Stone's next most famous song is "Dance to the Music" - the drumbeat for which has been ripped off by many - notably Primal Scream for 'Rocks'. I'm fairly keen on 'Rocks', but I much prefer 'Loaded'...

Loaded features many samples and movie clips (and is of course brilliant), notably I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love by The Emotions. The Emotions were the Hutchinson sisters plus backing group/producers Earth Wind & Fire.

This is their best single...

The Eagles also had a hit with a different song with same title, as weve already had the Eagles lets have Don Henley of the group

Fab record. Don had a great duet with Stevie Nicks called Leather & Lace with Stevie Nicks. Stevie has written some of the most beautiful songs in rock, both solo and for Da Mac, but she can rock it fine too, like this one, Edge Of Seventeen

Another member of Fleetwood Mac is Mick Fleetwood who farcically co-presented the 1989 Brit Awards with Sam Fox. Her hits were, of course, worse than atrocious so here instead is the winner of Best Single that year - Perfect by Fairground Attraction.
