May 4, 201411 yr You might visit the Fairground whilst on holiday.. 10cc had a no.1 with Dreadlock holiday, though as i cant get that video to appear heres another 10cc song uFkMGrESZUo Edited May 4, 201411 yr by fiesta
May 4, 201411 yr Author Graham Gouldman, when he was a teenage songwriter, and before 10CC wrote this song. The Yardbirds had the hit.. o4y25bBMV74
May 5, 201411 yr From the Yardbirds to some other birds. Specifically, A Flock Of Seagulls with Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You). L5tNI1d5cEk
May 7, 201411 yr Author I make that exactly 250 acts gone, that's pretty good and a nice round number. B-)
May 8, 201411 yr With Ringo Starr now added to that list of 250, it means there's only one Beatle left to have a solo record included on this thread. Rather than go for the obvious My Sweet Lord or the ultra-cheesy, Got My Mind Set On You...here's George Harrison with a track I've always rather liked (although never quite sure why)...with the added link of having a cameo appearance by Mr Starr in the video. AghXjOrhkVY
May 9, 201411 yr Sometimes you just have to go with the obvious so let's have Harrison's later outfit the Travelling Wilburys and Handle With Care L8s9dmuAKvU
May 9, 201411 yr Handle With Care is a cover on one of my favourite albums (and Buzzjack poster extraordinaire) Rabbit Fur Coat by Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins. Jenny of course didn't begin her career with those twins, she instead provided the lovely vox and song writing skills for Rilo Kiley... and obvious as the choice may be, here's the wonderful Portions For Foxes. qtNV3pOqcjI
May 9, 201411 yr Author don't know that one, I'm certainly getting an indie edjication! B-) Nice... well, i hear foxes, I think of foxes on the run from cars (certainly in Dorset), Manfred Mann and The Sweet both had hits called Fox On The Run, but different songs. I'm feeling glamtastic, so here's a teen anthem from when I was a teen and we were rebelling against our parents cos they just didn't get what us kids wanted. Good thing that generation gap never existed before or since, eh? Socrates: “Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.” Bet So-Crates would've hated Teenage Rampage...! sgWyPiH_UGE Edited May 9, 201411 yr by popchartfreak
May 10, 201411 yr Another obvious one maybe but we have to go from Teenage Rampage to Teenage Kicks so here are The Undertones :D PinCg7IGqHg
May 11, 201411 yr Author Feargal Sharkey had back to back hits with songs written by a couple of ex-lover songwriters about each other, the better song was A Good Heart written Maria Mckee. Here's her other great song. Show Me Heaven. Eo_s0iEA41o&feature=kp
May 11, 201411 yr Assuming you have been a good boy mr popchartfreak, there are indeed many ways that we could show you heaven. You could be murdered on the dancefloor by dear Sophie Ellis Bextor... or maybe you could follow the Manics and find out if suicide really is painless... perhaps you could be the unlucky victim of Loleatta Holloway in a hit and run... or maybe we could employ Rita Ora to ensure you R.I.P... however you are fortunate enough at this point to have not angered the Buzzjack masses to quite that level so perhaps we'll leave those means until another year and instead focus on the longing to learn more from someone who has already passed into heaven. And we can do this via Emmylou Harris and her lovely tribute to her father and the numerous questions she had that she had never quite found the time to find out the answers to... May 12, 201411 yr Or...bang the drum a little quicker, so we can actually hear the drummer...and get wicked while we're at it. gkB_aiwjgzk
May 13, 201411 yr Author Assuming you have been a good boy mr popchartfreak, there are indeed many ways that we could show you heaven. Never safe to assume that  Once in a blue moon I'm a very naughty boy... Emmylou is fab, in fact my top 5 has a song about her (and others) right now. yay! Richie, drummers, oh what a dilemma so many to choose from my brain hurts. If no-one else jumps in I may have to pull one out of a hat tonight... OK, a drummer, not the greatest ever drum performance but Cozy Powell was a respected drummer and I loved the record... ydF74FxMsV4 Edited May 13, 201411 yr by popchartfreak
May 14, 201411 yr Cozy Powell called his biggest hit Dance With The Devil, but who was dancing with the devil? Well it was.. GHEuSGGmX-c
May 14, 201411 yr Author LOVE the Witch Queen of New Orleans. When I feel a bit stroppy I'm tempted to do a blog under the pseudonym Bitch Queen Of New Orleans, only I'm not In New Orleans so its been shelved. Queens? Queen Of Clubs, the sexiest of all the playing cards, by far, and the best KC record. As ever, anything disco under-rated by the Rock Fraternity musos of the time, who were so often wrong about so much. I used to keep quotes on all the ridiculous hilarious pompous statements they'd make, must dig them out. Anyways, KC was the mastermind behind George McRae's Rock Your Baby which had a massive effect on dance music in summer 1974, pretty much the first worldwide disco hit, and he then shot out himself with a bang with Queen Of Clubs, frantic, whooping, soaring and funky funky funky vibes man! Not bad for a Florida white man who consistently topped soul charts for the next few years (and had huge hits for himself and others).... G-GI4TZxHIo&feature=kp
May 15, 201411 yr Well, what's a Queen without a King? Richard Harris played King Arthur twice in different versions of 'Camelot' which is as tenuous a link I need to give you this masterpiece. tRwYQgk05DY
May 16, 201411 yr Author 2 Faboolous Jimmy Webb songs, and the brilliant Glen had some hits with country star Bobbie Gentry, she of the sexy, gravelly voice. I nearly went with her gorgeous Bacharach number one (the 4th record I ever bought) but this BBC live performance is amazing (and she wrote it): Ode To Billie Joe HaRacIzZSPo
May 19, 201411 yr It is a little known fact that the 10th Baron Aukland, Robert Eden (1793), was often known among his circle of friends as Bobby (Landed) Gentry. Another little known fact is that he became famous for his unusual dancing during royal ceremonies... indeed the ladies of George III's houses used to run a mile at the very mention of Robert Eden (Bobby Landed Gentry)'s name. Poor Robert never quite understood why people didn't take to his unusual style of regal dance and was often found chasing ladies at the beginning of the next number shouting "Here's another chance for you to dance with me!"... the little known fact that inspired Shades of Rhythm to write their ode to Robert Eden / Bobby Landed Gentry, 'The Sound of Eden'. The sound at 0:38 is reportedly supposed to represent the sound of the ladies recoiling in terror at the thought. um7AIdkwKOc
