We could continue with the Midge Ure theme but 1) it would take ages and 2) we would have to include Slik. So Visage is French for face which leads to the Small Faces and Itchycoo Park

Great minds indeed...but a small face suggests a small head which would only leave room for a very simple mind...so...

From one Scottish Band to another one. And one of the best songs they ever did imo.

PJ Harvey shares her initials with the early music aliases of Ant & Dec, PJ & Duncan. There is also a Duncan (James) in Blue, and this is "Breathe Easy"

One of The Prodigy's biggest hits was probably "Firestarter" which I think is them taking credit for the fire that Billy Joel denies all part of.

From one song about historical events to another. "American Pie" is about the death of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens & The Big Bopper, who were killed in a plane crash, dubbed "The Day the Music Died".

Another Don MacLean hosted Crackerjack for a while. The programme famously started with the line "It's Friday, it's 5 o'clock and it's Crackerjack". So, the hosts (who also included Leslie Crowther and Michael Aspel) might have been considered to be a 5 o'clock hero by some children at the time. That gives us Just Who Is That 5 O'Clock Hero by The Jam.

Staying with food, lets have some

and to continue the food theme in a really gross and crude manner (because i've been obsessed to listening to this today:)

one of the most haunting songs i think i've ever heard. incredible band! thank you to the 2 bears for educating me on this.

Straying away from food, the meat sections of a hamburger are known as "patties". Patti LaBelle has done many-a-song but I have a soft spot for "New Attitude"

Patti n the gals of course had a classic Lady Marmalade moment. The music biz has had loads of Lady references, madonna, elenore, gaga, lynda among many - I'm thinking more Lady D'Arbanville and Cat Stevens. Here's his debut popstar hit, frilly 60's popstar shirt and all and one I was obsessed by at 9 years old.

Matthew And Son!

Mention of a cat provides the perfect opportunity to bring in the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Let's have The Into and The Outro.

The Bonzos made an appearance in the Beatles' slightly bonkers 'Magical Mystery Tour' singing 'Death Cab For Cutie'. There is a band of that name, but I'm not hugely fond of them. I am, on the other hand, a big fan of another co-star of MMT - Ivor Cutler. Here he is with a song beloved of Billy Connolly among others.

Talking of Billy Connolly....he was in a band with the late great Gerry Rafferty, The Humblebums. After they split, Gerry ended up in Stealers Wheel with this classic, fresh from the top of my chart last week (well it didn't top in 1973 and was selling enough to make the Archive Top 40 last week, so I owe it that top slot!)..

"Stuck In The Middle With You" was an integral part of Quentin Tarantino's Resevoir Dogs' soundtrack, as was "Little Green Bag" by George Baker Selection. Ordinarly, I'd got further with my link, but I really love this song.

Gerry Rafferty's signature hit was, of course, Baker Stree. That left me with a choice of two and I've chosen to stick with London Underground stations. A station much more famous than its level of use would normally dictate is Mornington Crescent. As well as being an exceptionally silly game it was also the name of the debut album by My Life Story. So here they are performing a track from the album on Mark Radcliffe's brilliant White Room programme.

EDIT: Oh dear, I've been beaten to it but I'm leaving it in because I can still use the Baker part :D
