This thread seems to be more about you trying to get across the fact that Neon Jungle are better or going to be bigger than 'The Saturdays' which is a big laughable. Firstly you can not compare a group that's been getting a top 10 for years and years with any new group and secondly Neon jungle will not be big TRUST me. They will be lucky to bring an album out.

Also, I don't think any if the current girl bands can compare to Spice girls, All saints or Girls aloud. Unfortunately none of them are or will be as big. Would be interested to see how Little mix are doing in a couple of years!

I don't think that's what they were trying to do with this Thread, its more of a discussion :)

Yup, Guurlz Aloud, Spicey Ones and Saints were huge (relatively, for Girl Bands, in real terms not so much). No band is going to match them anytime soon, especially not Little Mix or the Saturdays.
Album sales impressive? Since when is 300k for first album and about 180k for 2nd album impressive? I think its pretty satisfactory but wouldnt describe it anywhere near impressive. They have yet to make a major impact in terms of album sales although some reasonable single sales.

343,100 - DNA

222,900 - Salute

While I agree that "impressive" is a bit of a strong word, I'd say these are certainly very respectable sales in the current sales climate. Compared to their current girl group peers, Little Mix are way out in front. Stooshe's debut album sold around 30,000, and the latest Saturdays album has sold 25,000 at most.

I agree 100% with you!

How can you say that spices were huge for a girlband but in relative terms not? The only other band I see achieving the level of success that spices had is 1D!

I get the feeling we'll have a split announcement soon from The Sats. There's been that eerie several months of quiet - even with a new single raring to go - and I can just feel it in my waters that things are winding down. They've had a good run - an excellent run in fact. I will miss them though.

I do love Little Mix - they're cute, bless 'em and their new album is wicked - but as I've often said time and time again they just feel a bit too much like kid sisters for me to be a fan of properly. Neon Jungle do nowt for me at all - they're just Stooshe in a smaller wardrobe.

In my view the best girl groups - Spice Girls, All Saints, Sugababes and Girls Aloud - happened by accident, or rather unexpectedly. And that's what made them so brilliant. There's plenty of great pop still about at the moment, it's just a case of where you choose to find it. But perhaps we just need a few years respite before someone totally unexpected and amazing comes along.

This Neon Jungle/Stooshe shade :/ Neon Jungle are not anything like Stooshe and nor will they end up as flops like them, listen to their 3rd single Welcome To The Jungle and embrace how wrong you are! Neon Jungle are the next IT girl group whether The Saturdays stans like it or not :D

I have just listened to it.....sounds rubbish IMO and i have never really got the IT factor with Neon Jungle they are just very MEH to me. Like everyone is saying they are pretty much like stooshe.

To me I just want an amazing girlband to come out the wood work or even just come back....Sugababes 2.0 WE MISS YOU!

Maybe we will get a good GirlGroup on X Factor this year! Here is hoping! If a show like that can crank out GA and LM then they can surely do it again!

Neon Jungle are really popular and some of you can't handle it!

I admire your unwavering belief in them. :P I actually really like Neon Jungle myself, and I want them to succeed. The thing is, anything could happen - it's still really early days for them. So far they've only had one hit of note, which isn't exactly a lot to go on. Any group can pull off a big hit randomly and then not go on to very much afterwards. The music charts/industry can be cruel and unpredictable!

Personally I need to wait and see whether their next couple of singles are successful before I can begin to entertain the thought that they can stick around and be the next big girl group. I do have faith that 'Welcome To The Jungle' could do the business, but we'll have to see, there's no guarantee.

I personally couldn't care less about whether Neon Jungle sell bucketloads of their singles. They're pushing the formula for girlgroup songs out of the window and so they won't immediately be met with glowing sales figures. It will take time. I agree that the industry is harsh and so without the income it's difficult for them to continue, but they're in a different vein (and league) to their peers. They'll never be the next Girls Aloud or Saturdays, precisely because they're offering something completely different to those.

Would rather they kept putting out these daring singles and "flopping!!1" with them, than sticking to formulaic pop ditties that are forgotten and just disappear a week after they've been released.

Bring back Monrose to slay all the basics :smoke:

I'd say Neon Jungle are in a reasonably good position after 'Braveheart' and the next single is strong, but like Jay says it's not exactly guaranteed that they'll keep it up and one hit single does not establish you that firmly.

I do want them to succeed though as I quite love them, I'm hoping they can keep it up.

Neon Jungle are really popular and some of you can't handle it!

Ok Marc, you need to wait and see how the enxt single does before you can say that. Yes Braveheart has went top 10 but is still yet to get a certification from the official charts company. Stooshe did well with Blackheart and Love Me went top 10, but the singles afterwords flopped. You seem like a nice guy, all I am trying to say is don't go into mega loon mode until you are 100% sure the girls will release their album.

They can't do any worse than Parade :kink:

Have Neon Jungle announced an album yet? Braveheart is still ticking sales over and Welcome To The Jungle is doing pretty good on pre-orders, seems to make sense to hit whilst the iron is hot and not make the mistake of pretty much every other girl group of late and release the album too late. They're not my thing, but I'm all for more girl groups, especially as the more there is the harder they'll push each other to step their games up.

Nope not yet.

What do you all think of G.R.L? They're getting a bit of a break with Pitbulls Wild Wild love track.

I'm hoping they follow it up with this:

Not sure if they will break through though, but would love an album from them if that last track is anything to go by, very summery and fun. :)

Didn't want to start a new topic, but just if anyone is interested thought it might be an idea to have a list of UK sales for girl groups charting in the UK, please help me to fill in the blanks or any corrections you have.

OMG I ADORE G.R.L.! Paula follows me on twitter

I really hope they take off but Robin Antin's too lazy to get off her arse and promote them, I bet she thinks that (what looks to be) a flop collaboration with Pitbull is enough to make them global superstars. They are five gorgeous, talented ladies with buckets of potential but they'll be over before their first album has a name of they don't at least push themselves.
