Many people think that the single MAS QUE NADA by SERGIO MENDES FEAT. BLACK EYED PEAS is a new song.

It is actually a re-recorded version of the 1966 US hit MAS QUE NADA by SERGIO MENDES & BRASIL '66.

It entered the Billboard singles chart at #84 on 24.09.66 and peaked at #47 on 05.11.66.

It was also used as part of a major advertising campaign in the UK a few years ago, and I think in some other countries. In the UK at least, I'd be shocked if people thought it was entirely new.

Infernal's isn't original?

Knew about Sergio - vile the first time and even more vile now it has the Black Eyed Peas on it :puke:

I knew that anyway, I thought most people did

Same here

Infernal's I didn't know until recently though, I heard it this morning for the first time - it's very good :o

Thanks for saying and don't be put off by a few unhelpful remarks. But to be honest most people will have realised this. The following is put up on many references to the song.

'Timeless' is the magnificent new album by the legendary Sergio Mendes. Produced by and featureing Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, this album is a wholly original synthesis of music from the man who - 40 years ago - brought Brazil 66 and 'Mas Que Nada' to the world. 'Timeless' beautifully blends the urban culture of Brazil, samba and bossa nova with the urban culture of America, hip hop and rap, the results of which are truly spectacular. - HMV

if you're looking for a Laura Brannigan song then Self Control is by far the best

it sounds dated (and a poor copy too, the video appears to have come from a poor copy on VHS tape), but it is 22 years old!

Thanks Robbie :D I forgot to YouTube it actually

I like it, but I think I prefer the Infernal version :o She has a lot more power in her voice, Laura sounds strained at times -_-

Knew that already. Is that bloke at the start of the vid him in 1966 then?
I thought it was obvious that it was a re-recording of an old song. Sergio Mendes didn't do it originally either. The person who recorded it first was Jorge Ben Jor, the bloke who wrote it.
but that song it´s not on their album!

Edited by burning up!
