LXX: MMOTHS - Yago



Florina have decided to end a mixed year with a bang! 'Yago' is an instrumental that sounds like nothing we've ever sent (or dared to send) before and we're excited to see how it fares amongst the other countries :o

If this is anywhere near as good as their song from Unknown Pleasures... then it will be very good indeed. x

I've just had a listen to that entry and it's quite different but 'Yago' is better x

Can confirm this is indeed very good :wub: I do prefer 'Heart' but that was basically my favourite song ever entered to Unknown Pleasures.

Contest Updates

In the last contest of the year, 'Yago' managed to reach 24th in the final, our third best result. It's qualification meant that we managed to qualify more than DNQ in 2014 (5/9) which is very pleasing. Florina was very pleased with its result as we feel like it was one of our more inspired entries.

Florina are also very proud to announce that it had its two most successful entries of the year in TBO final! 'Circles' managed to achieve 13th and 'New Americana' came 21st. It was very impressive for the latter considering its 10th place result in its contest and there's been no commercial push for it!

LXXI: Lostboycrow - HiyHiy



We hope to continue our success into 2015 and so we present Lostboycrow with 'HiyHiy'. It's an addictive, catchy upbeat song and so we're hoping it will be our first male vocalist led song to qualify.

Despite all those last place predictions, Lostboycrow placed 25th with 69 points. In terms of position, it is actually our fourth best result :lol: Now the search is on for our next entry...

WD ^_^ Don't quite get how this beat my song Lol but okay. I'm sure we will be fans of the next Florina entry. ^_^

LXXII: // LSBV // - Smoke N Mirrors



Little Shoes Big Voice or as they prefer to be known // LSBV // represent Florina in our 15th contest with 'Smoke N Mirrors' in a contest held by our neighbours again, Altyr! We fell in love with the track immediately on first listen with its mix of female and male vocals. We hope it will be able to provide us with a qualifying streak best of 3 :kink: The track went down well yesterday after it's première on plug.dj in a period of much bias towards it's DJ and so we hope to take that as a good sign.

I feel like this might be one of the first songs to benefit from our new voting strategy of 'actually listening to songs more than once'. Very ~nice~ song that I expect will be a grower, certainly much better than 'HiyHiy' anyway. :magic:

Our qualfiying steak was not improved when // LSBV // DNQ although they came close, managing 17th place!

LXXIII: George Maple - Vacant Space



For our 16th contest, Florina sent a track they've been obsessed with since the last contest finished but were nervous over sending because it went against the 2015 campaign of #upbeatflorina. The song and artist share similarities with Jessie Ware and despite some awful predicitons/odds, George managed to qualify! This brings us back to a 50% Q/DNQ. Will it continue the trend of our past final performances of Top 10 or Bottom 10 or will we finally see the middle of the board?

Florina declares war on Aquafina

In other news, relations between Florina and Aquafina have heated up and resulted in Florina declaring war on Aquafina first. It is the first war that Florina have ever took part in but in an economy that has been boosted heavily over the past year, we have everything ready and prepared.

Vacant Space reaches ninth place!



George proved to be one of the dark horses of the final and she gave us our second best result in terms of placing, reaching No. 9! We are delighted that the track clicked with so many other people with a lot of our points coming from the top of people's votes, it proved to be a grower amongst many people as well. The song gained eighth place in the semi, only missing out on seventh due to Aquafina having more votes. We look forward to next month's contest wherever it is held.
