'Another Chance' is another one I only just got back into again after not being able to tolerate it due to overplay.

It usually takes at least 10 years for me to enjoy a song that was overplayed to that level, although I was never able to enjoy 'Castles In The Sky' in the same way again. :(

The best thing about the Outhere Brothers was that video made up of old 1920's footage - when the actual "brothers" turned up in their basketball gear...oh no...and I suspect they will turn up again very soon.

Hated Stardust at the time. Hate it now. That and "One More Time" by Daft Punk...awful.

One More Time is fairly awful. The lack of invention in it compared to most of the rest of Discovery is confusing.

Outhere Brothers 'Don't Stop' ~

Stardust 'Music Sounds Better With You' ~ massive dance anthem!

Love Stardust, it was such a great track and very summery too

Another euro wide hit for the duo this took full advantage of the summer lull to top our charts for 4 weeks. Another profane lyric re-written for the radio, it must have come as a surprise to any parent who bought the album for their children on the strength of the singles on the radio.

The band had said after “Firestarter” that they would never have a single that sold in such quantities again- how wrong they were. This debuted at the top on sales way ahead of “Firestarter” and had outsold that track after just 7 weeks on sale!

"Breathe" is brilliant. Much prefer it to "Firestarter".

Me too! It's an all-time classic for me and I never get bored of it.

'Boom Boom Boom' -

Great as it is, I wonder if Breathe was by some unknown band would it be 'dance' enough for this chart?

It's a shame 'Breathe' is the Prodigy's biggest seller - wouldn't make my top 10 tracks by them...oh, and there go the Outhere Brothers in their basketball garb. Good riddance.

I posted my Top 10 Prodigy tracks earlier in the thread but Breathe didn't make it. It's probably great n'all but doesn't do much for me at all. The first time I heard it I thought it ripped off Anarchy in the UK too much.

Well that's

Flat Beat

and

Sweet Like Chocolate

gone too as they sold less than Breathe. There's still 5 possibilities for the Top 4.

Flat Beat

is dance - it's almost the purest form of dance. Can't understand why that wouldn't be in.

I have to say, despite not being a very active member on any forum (well, for quite a while at least), this has been a very enjoyable thread and countdown! Thank you for all of your work and effort, OP. :D

Would anyone know what hits *just* missed out on the Top 100? Say, 110-101?

04. CHILDREN- Robert Miles (764,000)

YEAR: 1996

PEAK POSITION: 2

The song that earned the Italian a BRIT award (the only Italian act to do so) Robert Miles was yet another case of big all over Europe before here. This topped virtually every European chart in late 95/ early 96 before almost going all the way here, it was indeed a midweek No 1 but lost out to Babylon Zoo.
