This song is great and it gets better with every listen! I'm still very surprised how well it has done in the chart, but I'm glad it has done so well.

This is utterly stunning. I've never really paid attention to her past liking a few singles but this is SO cutting it hurts.

I can fully understand it's wide appeal because it speaks volumes effortlessly with such simple lyrics. Ugh <3

Yeah, the lyrics are very powerful in their simplicity.

I wonder if the success of the song (and it becoming Paloma's biggest hit) is slightly bittersweet for her given that she has a hand in writing the vast majority of her material, yet this is a Diane Warren song.

That's what I keep thinking. It must be annoying when, what's looking to be your most successful single, is the one song you haven't actually wrote! Kind of similar to a Burn situation (in the UK) but OLCHLT isn't exactly a drastic change in sound!

It's not like she has anything to prove, her last two albums she wrote a lot and they fared well, I'm sure she'll be reet.
I paid no attention to Paloma before this song really but now I think she's great and I've began listening to her older stuff too now thanks to OLCHLT

Ha, that's funny as I was thinking of it as being her 'Burn', although to a lesser degree and without any sell-out accusations :D.

True, but it may be a minor annoyance for her - like a first world problem :P.

This jumped to #1 on Australian iTunes yesterday! :o Anyone know why, the rapid climb according to Kworb suggests it wasn't just due to an airplay increase.
Ah right, I assumed she might have performed on something but when I couldn't find anything about any performance it got me confused. Looks like it could go #1 officially there then if it's doing that well off the back of an advert!
I might have misread her Twitter but shes releasing Only Love Can Hurt Like This (or has already done so) in America as well!

It won't be this week sadly. Our chart sales week is Friday-Thursday. Top 10 at best this week I'm guessing but I'm expecting between 12-15, should be top 20.

If she keeps it up for a full week it should get #1.

Get that international success/recognition! It's about time. :cheer:

Agreed - I think Can't Rely On You would have been a good lead as well given Pharrell produced/features, could help with a buzz!

So glad this is doing well other than in the UK! Would love for it to become a hit in the US as well, it was released yesterday there. Does anyone know if it made any impact on US iTunes?

According to LivePopBars:

230. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This.

I really like this song, they're a great group, I bought my mother her first 2 albums for X-Mas last year, and one of my faves from her is 30 Minute Love Affair
