It's hard for me to get my hopes up after their recent single/album performances. Yes this is a GH and there is the tour bundle, but I don't think Top 5 is a given. I do think Top 10 should be a safe bet though.
I just hope we all remember the diabolical disaster that was Not Giving Up when we predict the performance of any of these singles!
I was gonna say :D 18k for a #7!?

I think Top 5 with 13k if sales do not improve.

I just checked the sales last year from the August period.

Jesus, that's low.

So I say #7 with #8-10k. Tour and singles will be flops too I think.

i remember Steps getting number 1 with their Ultimate Collection with only 9K sold!

oh i'm back btw! broadband wasn't working for over a month :L

How can you say that?

You have no idea what the single will sound like so you have no idea how it will perform.

For all you know it could be a Pharrell Williams feature? I know it won't be, but it makes the point.

There's being realistic and then there's being negative. And that's just negative.

You have literally nothing to base that idea on?!

Steps hahaha oh such nostalgia! I don't think The Sats would get 9k sales to number one. I reckon 10kish for opening week but again too early to predict. Look at NGU flopping despite initial predictions!

How exactly do I have nothing to base that idea on? :o  Excuse me, but 5 of their last 7 singles weren't hits, 6 actually because I don't consider 'Disco Love' to be one either unlike the rest of this forum...

We know that the tour isn't selling well. Obviously, that's normal in my opinion because it hasn't been promoted properly as for now and it's bit too soon...but how exactly do YOU know it will be promoted properly later? If we judge by their previous experiences - which is what I'm doing - we can expect the label to provide only the minimum in terms of budget and completely miss their cue. The girls don't have the biggest profile either right now. It doesn't seem like there is much interrest in them at the moment. Will there be more interrest in them later this summer? Maybe, but I don't know and I can't say and neither do/can you. But what we know is that there's none right now and that's what I'm basing that idea on because I can only judge things as for now and from the past.

The quality of their next single doesn't matter. The Saturdays always release good songs, for the exception of a very very very few. I know this next one is probably going to be good....You know, like the rest of their singles...which some have flopped too despite being good songs because that's not the biggest factor when it comes to the success of a song. It should be, but it's not. Airplay is their biggest problem right now and it's getting really bad. Radio 1 have refused to playlist their songs further than the B-list and even refused to actually just playlist their last single. Despite being playlisted by Capital, they didn't show any further support either.

That is on what I'm basing my idea. You can disagree with what I'm judging things on, that's fine. But don't say I have nothing to base that idea on. It's not like they were the most supported act and were selling 400k of each singles and I suddenly came into this thread and saying "The next single will be a flop even though their last 16 were far from it"... I'm still being realistic in my opinion.

Sorry for the little rant, guys!

I'm sorry but what you consider to be a hit and what actually is a hit seem to be two different things.

A single is usually considered a hit when it reaches the Top 75 of the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for at least one week.

The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles has used this definition since the 1970s.

All of their singles can be considered a hit. The general public don't know/don't care about sales.

I'm not talking about promotion or their profile etc.

What I'm saying is.. you haven't heard the song, how can you just write it off?

You don't know that Radio 1 won't playlist it.. it could be amazing.

And I'm not saying it will be amazing or will get playlisted or will go #1 or anything..

I'm not a delusional stan that thinks everything will be okay, but for you to say you think it'll flop without even hearing it is silly!

But do you know who knows/cares? The ones holding their contract. And I'm actually really worried about them finally losing it after all these seconds chances because the label's conception of a hit certainly resembles mine (without wanting to sound pretentious)...

Not Giving Up was/is amazing and they did write it off...But then it was the 5th single of a flop campaign which could explain things. Notorious was/is amazing, and even though it was nowhere near a flop, they still f***ed up any chance of a better success with this OA/OS release. See? Bigger factors than the quality of a song.

I really don't think it is
that silly
. After all these good songs of theirs flopping, I wonder what exactly will make this one a hit, that's it... :/ And like I said, I don't know the future (nor the song, indeed) so I can't say things
for sure
(but then I did say
"I think"
), but judging from the past singles, how they were promoted and how the radios support them, I can make a guess and here was mine.

Don't me wrong, I love these girls to bit and would nothing more but to see them more successful than never (and therefore being proven wrong), but I'll not back down on this one because if you ask me "predictions" then there is mine...

I'm not asking you to back down

You're allowed an opinion, of course. But you're not even allowing time to make a decision based on the song or what is to happen. You're basing it on what you think will happen.

And I feel it's a bit of a shame. I think you're going to spoil the campaign for yourself.

To be honest the campaign has already been spoiled for me ; there's nothing exciting in a Greatest Hits in my opinion.

I am open to revisit my opinion, though. I'm not that close minded ha! If there are true signs of this being a potential success, I'd probably be the first one to be excited really.

SHOOTING THE VIDEO IN RHODES, I predict summer vibes and Una in the flip said about tracks being a banger, AFU/NGU v.3?

Steps' Ultimate Collection got to #1 with first week sales of 34,200! It was Rihanna's 'Talk That Talk' which achieved a week at #1 with just 9,587 sales, in August 2012 (her album was about 8 months old at this point).

0:35, Una talks about being back in the studio recording loads of new material. She says they've recorded a couple of "bangers"! :D

Rhodes is amazing  Expect some real beauty.

Obviously it's too early to predict what things will be like but if it's being filmed in Greece I am expecting something like What About Us/Missing You, very summery in terms of music video!
I hope the album can sell 100k-200k and I can't wait for the next video/single
