It was the 3rd single from her debut album and was a big success. There are two versions of the song around. The album version and the remix version used for the soundtrack to the film 'Drive Me Crazy' which was named "The Stop! Remix)". It's a shame it tends to go under the radar a bit when discussing favourite Britney tracks, but I'm glad to see it prevail and get a much deserved and respected top 10 position here. The video is iconic for the fact that "it's got Sabrina the teenage witch in it!". The song was a huge hit and peaked at number 5 here in the UK, and in the US it propelled her back into the top 10 (#10) after 'Sometimes' failed to do so by only going to #21. I knew it was liked a lot, but I thought more scores of 9/8's sort of liked. Not only did it manage to dark horse the final rate, but it made it through to this round by finishing 2nd in the 'Blackout' rate, ahead of 'Piece Of Me' (which has now overtaken it in the final proceedings. It's a brilliant song though, even if I do prefer a handful of other tracks to it, I'm not going to argue with it's positioning. Keri Hilson is a GODDESS in all honesty :drink: The video wasn't what the Britney fans wanted, at all (in fact I think we all wanted 'Radar' over this at the time!) but considering everything that had gone off, I thought they made the best of a very meh situation. Now waiting for that follow up video... (which is what 'Radar' would have been had it been the 4th single from 'Blackout' as opposed to the 4th off of 'Circus'...) 'Break The Ice' was a mediocre hit for Britney all across the world I think. The top 2 songs from Britney! 'Everytime' has FINALLY managed to beat out 'Toxic' in a rate, not once, but TWICE as it came 1st over 'Toxic' in the 'In The Zone' album rate. Both incredibly successful (her last truly successful era for singles globally, I think) singles, although both completely different from one another and both thoroughly deserving of being the top 2 tracks (in whatever order - but personally this IS the correct order for me) ;D. 'Toxic' is an upbeat, contemporary pop song that truly stands up to the likes of 'Baby One More Time' and 'Oops...' in the big, signature pop songs stake. Whereas 'Everytime' is a lot more subtle and easily her most beautiful ballad to date. They both went to number 1 over here in the UK and I believe that if the sales were anything like what they were now, instead of back then in 2004, both would be (at the very least) close to a million. ('Toxic' at most anyway, 'Everytime' more 800k)
