Matt Cardle at the least is showing in the top 300. I knew it wouldnt become a hit but did think it would reach the top 200.

 112. Pitbull - We Are One (Ole Ola) [The Official 2014 FIFA World Cup™ Song] [feat. Jennifer Lopez & Cláudia Leitte]

Can this hit the chart hard please? Such a catchy tune! Might screw with Wild Wild Love's chart placing tho

'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)' seems to have barely left the iTunes top 300 in 4 years, I wouldn't be surprised if it has actually overtaken the sales of 'Wavin' Flag' by now. 'Wavin' Flag' is the better song by far IMO but not gonna argue that it's the more 'iconic' one even if it did peak a lot higher. Hope it does manage to make some sort of resurgence for 2014 anyway!
This is Buzzjack we're talking about, many people on here stan for female artists like her :P It does seem to have more lasting appeal than 'Waving Flag' though.

'Waka Waka' is currently #262 and 'Waving Flag' is nowhere to be seen

That's probably due to the fact "Waving Flag" was used for a World Cup that was based in Africa, and has an African style sound to it....

whereas Shakira's "Waka Waka" has a more South American style sound to it, and therefore is appropriate for a Brazilian world cup - plus she's from South America herself (Colombia) so that must help her.

I'm gonna have to dispute that. The Shakira song has the word 'Africa' in its title and features an African band and some of its lyrics are sung in an African language. Pretty African.

But because she's South American herself that's gonna help. "Waka Waka" to me sounds more appropriate for a Brazil WC rather than "Waving Flag".

I liked 'Waving Flag' more at the time tbh, but I GENUINELY forgot about it by now.

I suppose so :P Come to think of it it is quite strange that they got an artist from a different continent to be the main artist on the official World Cup song in 2010. (And they've done the same this year of course as Pitbull and JLo are both from the USA).

I couldn't care less if it screws up 'Wild Wild Love'. I'd much rather that than if WWL screwed this song's success up.

It's not just on here, that 'Wavin' Flag' thing is never heard of anymore anywhere and I still hear 'Waka Waka' around quite a lot.

I dont think i have ever actually heard Shakiras one (although I wouldnt seek it out to listen to either) although i know it was the bigger world wide hit in Germany and places like that. Here's Wavin Flags chart run -

16-16-3-{2}-2-5-13-16-26-39-43-55-69->13 Weeks Entered 5/6/10

And Shakiras -

I knew that ;) Thats what i was trying to highlight.

Its maybe a combination of a new world cup on the horizon, what people here have said already plus the fact Shakira has recently released new material in the last few months.

On another topic Hideaway has reached the top 20 on preorders - said it would at the start of the week!

The pre-order for 'Sing' seems to have been a bit frontloaded for now (down to #99), I'm sure it will recover soon. In the meantime though 'I See Fire' has re-entered again at #47, looks like 'The Hobbit - The Desolation Of Smaug' has just come out on DVD. Ever so slightly overshadowed by a certain other DVD release but hopefully should net 'I See Fire' another week or 2 in the top 100 anyway!

Waves doing wonders on Pre orders also... Kiesza won't stop it on it's second week... it's not too far away...

Although I'm afraid for Calvin... Waves will has weeks and weeks in the top 10... such a grower.

Should go straight to #1 I would think. It's gonna sell about 130k first week

I still think it will do 150k+

but the hype is kinda fading away I think - thank you AGAIN postponed releases!

Thought Sigma might have done 150k but don't think it will now, Keisza should just about do that!
