Its a shame about Pixie Lott's song doing so badly, its her only song i've liked other than Boys & Girls and Turn It Up.

What's happened to Pixie is really making me nervous for the sats now as they are having the same pre-order success as Pixie did. The only difference is that The Sats started at around #100-120 at first, so it should go top 40 at least but I am not keeping my hopes up for anything else (that Pixie flop has really discouraged me from being positive at the moment :P)

reading through this thread over the past two weeks has been utterly depressing, yes, I too am gutted the song hasn't picked up or been targeted by radios as the summer anthem. however, you have to remember the girls have been around since 2008, so many bands have come and gone in that time (JLS, The Wanted etc) but now I'm starting to think the girls have reached a stage where it goes one way or another... the days of X Factor performance discussions, number ones etc. has gone, really gone. It's a cycle all bands go through and its a natural path for a pop band.. especially one that's not had any major breaks from the spotlight or line up changes etc. The Sats are literally at a point where they go, hey girls, we did it! No big tv show launch and 18 hit singles, a number one, four top ten albums, arena tour, US tv show.... or they go down the 'mcfly' path where they continue - for the celebrity/fans/endorsements/tv and mag appearances etc. and the music is something they do on a smaller scale to please the fans. Radio moves on, TV moves on but we remain. and i think a lot of people here need to face up to that and accept it for what it is.

just as a last note:

Spice Girls 1996 - 2000 (5 years, with 18 month break)

S Club 7 1999 - 2003 (5 years)

JLS 2008 - 2013 (6 years)

Atomic Kitten 1999 - 2004 (6 years)

a1 1998 - 2002 (5 years)

Wanted 2009 - 2014 (6 years)

The Saturdays 2008 - Present (7 years+)

Well did Pixie/Cher have EPs? The EP isn't doing amazing, it's at 1243 at the moment, but surely that makes up A BIT? Saturdays will hopefully do more promo too.

Yeah they do and neither have done well. They both sat at the bottom of the top 1,500 for ages (Pixie was either at the bottom of the top 1,500 or not even there if memory serves me correct). The sats are actually doing better (slightly) than them.

When NGU was released we were all shocked it managed to get to #14 considering it was the 5th Single from the album and had such low airplay.

I'm confident this won't do too badly, I doubt it'll make top 10 but hopefully it manages top 15.

The difference there however is that NGU was doing much better on TV Airplay and at least had Capital support (albeit very little) and was 59p although I think pre-orders are relatively the same? I've noticed that Capital are adding very little songs to the playlist atm. Any reasons?

The Sats have never been big pre-order artists though. Not Giving Up did horribly on pre-orders and still made the Top 20 on iTunes. If that is anything to go by then this could easily go Top 10. Lay Me Down, Sirens, and Home are decent songs but they are all quite forgetable.

At least there is still hope for this to get good promo and a Capital playlisting.

I thought they've always been decent EP sellers instead of single pre-order sellers yet currently the EP is outside the top 1,000 which isn't very promising. However, I would've thought they'd have strong promo so I'm sure it will not do a Pixie flop :P

Honestly, I think I'm just a bit depressed because of Pixie flopping so anything I'll say this week may be a bit biased :P

If capital started playing it from Friday and played it a decent amount in the days, I wouldn't actually rule

out top ten, especially if they have better promo than NGU. Without these, I'm thinking #30, though.

I'm going for top 30 too because they have a good hardcore fanbase who will be determined to keep it top 40 at least. But it may put of casual buyers who may hold on for the next day to buy the album instead.
If the album does well though they may aswell release another single off the back of that and pass of WAYWF as a promo single?

to be fair... Girls Aloud were out of order from June 2009 - October 2012 and Sugababes had a line up change every album near enough toward the end

Doom and gloom talk aside, I just think it's really depressing that a lead single from The Saturdays isn't a sure top 10? :( -_- Seriously, let's not think about the flopping and the consequences and just really think about the fact that
a lead single from The Saturdays
is most likely not going to make the top 10. It's just unreal in my opinion. It felt like it was always such a certainty back then.

About promotion... It's something that's been bothering me a lot with 'Not Giving Up' too, it feels like their promo schedule are """leaking""" really late? I don't know, back then, it felt like you know two weeks before the release what the promo was going to be so you could tune in. Maybe it's just me. :kink:

I'm not expecting much promotion anyway, realistically, what is there for them to promote on? There's no big chat shows or Saturday night entertainment shows at the moment either.

I'm hoping with the instrumental being used a lot on the Commonwealth Games people are gonna Shazam it and pre-order it. Rihanna's 'What Now' was helped heaps being on that ITV advert.

What Are You Waiting For? 1136

bet that is on Pop

bet that is on Pop

Yes, and some of their older singles are actually higher. -_-

they need to put When Love Takes Over out on social media and websites like Digital Spy with links to the EP too. that might add a few sales
