What's the story behind "White Diamond"? I love both versions, I just never understood why she changed it up?

 

 

It's an absolutely beautiful song in both formats, I just prefer the original. I'm just thankful I have my Homecoming Live CD.

The original really would've been a number one smash if released. I find the ballad very boring.

 

There's no story behind it but the most commonly trotted out theory is that she wanted X to be a new chapter after beating cancer and White Diamond was too personal or too reminiscent of that period in time. I don't buy that though.

I always really wanted the original to surface in studio form, it is a great song. I guess over time I just accepted it's never gonna happen and got over it.

I always presumed the ballad version was the original. I much prefer the ballad, quite haunting especially knowing she wrote during her cancer treatment - quite like 'Flower' too.
