Nu 59p Batch.

216. Jessie J - Sexy Lady & #345

Is this the first time an album track has been included in one of these (apart from the Lady Gaga ones obviously)?

'Sexy Lady' has actually been 59p for the past month.

I think the label are debating whether to release it or not.

Considering Coldplay are not eligible to chart come Sunday - It wouldn't surprise me if Paloma sneaked into the top 10.

12. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This

192. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This

338. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This (Live For Burberry)

1189. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This (Off the Cuff)

Her performance on The Voice has literally saved the campaign.

She performed Can't Rely On You on The Voice, her performance of OLCHLY was on Alan Carr

How so? Sure, it gave 'Can't Rely On You' a second wind but it's not like the album was underperforming by her standards prior to The Voice and I don't see how it'd have any bearing on 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' now doing well in airplay or sales.

'Can't Rely On You' by returning to the chart has ensured that 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' has been provided with more airplay. Had 'Can't Rely On You' not returned to the charts and stabilised well I doubt 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' would have anywhere near the success it's currently having.

Of course there are other factors as her promotion has been rather spot on this era - the album has always held up well but her team have been on point with everything this campaign.

They'd be foolish not too. I can't flop too badly, it's already bagged at #22 peak. So even if it doesn't get a new peak, it should rack up some good sales. It's very rare that an album track charts so high, but is not later released as a single.

Think there was a Gary Barlow programme on TV last night.

Ah, Ok.

My first thought when I see unexpected climbs is 'check the obituaries...' :P

I'm surprised by the level of airplay and chart success of 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' but I don't think they can be primarily attributed to the resurgence of 'Can't Rely On You' due to The Voice - maybe somewhat, as perhaps some radio stations would have been more confident in playing her next single. I think its success is mainly due to its own merits though (as surprising as it is to see Paloma get a post-album hit) because the track has seemingly been a standout on the album for a lot of people and has strong, almost universal regard from what I've seen. (So basically I think you're overstating the impact of The Voice on her campaign but I see your point :D).

I don't think OLCHLT's success can be attributed to Can't Rely On You's performance at all. It gave it a few more weeks top 40 but the chart only matters to commercial radio stations, who snub Paloma these days anyway.

It's used in the Boots advert so I'm guessing they're hoping to attract people who hear it on there.

Her single is currently the ninth most played song on radio so I don't think the snubbing is as widespread as you're making out :P.

She's not being snubbed by ALL radios, but definitely stations like Radio 1 and Capital, ie. the ones that care more about the chart. Most of Paloma's support will be coming from Radio 2.
