Cheryl got where she is by playing the victim. Everyone felt sorry for her.. That's it.

And I like Cheryl's music but she has not shown for a good few years that she's sassy or hilarious.

In fact, she's kept quiet because she's so bland she's had nothing to say.

I think this will do nothing now :( I cannot see it getting radio support sadly. I know it is early days but I think it will do as well as Boomerang, if that. I would love to be proven wrong though.

This is such a nothing of a song. It doesn't really progress anywhere, and it's very flat throughout. The song and video pick up in the second half, especially the video. But everything about this is beige.

This is exactly how I feel! :( She's got everything going for her... apart from strong material. And I feel like she's lacking identity musically aswell, it feels like a case of throwing shit at a wall and seeing what sticks.

 

I do want her to be big though, 'Poison', 'Don't Hold Your Breath' and 'Wet' were all great (admittedly, aside from Killer Love itself, they were the only 4 songs I cared for) but since then, everything feels like it's come to a halt. When it shouldn't, especially in the UK, where her profile is pretty much as big as it ever was. She just needs a huge song and she doesn't seem to be getting it imo, it's frustrating.

I really think she's had a pretty strong pedigree of pop singles since 'Poison', pretty formidable by anyone's standards.

 

To be honest, she was considered a joke as a solo artist until 'Poison' so I'd say she's done quite well for herself considering that (well, in the UK at least).

 

Hoping this can be a big smash but there's no way of knowing at this stage, anything is possible.

I guess we've got to give it a chance.

She was on GMB this morning, she was doing interviews all day yesterday.

Nicole may come across as a bit of an airhead, but Cheryl most certainly does not have 'personality' or 'sass'. She is a very plain woman.

 

Out of all people I wouldn't have thought you would be the one to have such basic stan VS stan arguments here. Cheryl's singles and personality are miles above Nicole's, in my opinion, but I won't go on a vendetta against someone who would think the opposite. "SHE'S BETTER, FACTTTT!1!!!" or "SHE'S MORE INTERESTING, PERIODDD!!!11!" are such lame comments to make.

 

I don't even get how this started but what's the point of bringing Cheryl into this thread? It's funny that you all claim Nicole is far superior than boring Cheryl but in the end you always feel the need to compare Nicole to Cheryl, as if outstaging Cheryl was her ultimate goal in life. If Nicole is so amazing why don't you compare her to her fellow American colleagues instead like Beyoncé or Gaga?

Well, if you go that way, she's not on the same scale as Cheryl either. She hasn't sold 1,5 million albums and 3 millions singles in the UK and is far from achieving it.

So no, no comparaisons to Cheryl are needed.

I don't think it's a coincidence that her really big numbers are when she was on X Factor.

I'm sure had Nicole released an album and single whilst she was a judge, she'd have huge numbers.

They were both in successful girlbands and they were both X Factor judges.. They're on the same scale.

In 2014, Cheryl and Nicole are at the same level. I expect Your Love and Crazy Stupid Love to perform similarly well.

I'm expecting Crazy Stupid Love to be #1 (its pre-orders indicate that), this is coming nowhere near I'm sure.

 

I think comparing Nicole and Cheryl is kinda silly, they do have both their differences and similarities. Although saying Cheryl's sales were totally down to X Factor is a bit stupid. Kelly Rowland released an album when she was on X Factor and it missed the top 40, even with two top 10 singles preceding it. It's hard to say how Nicole would've done because it depends very much on radio airplay - something Boomerang didn't have, and I'm not sure this will get it either.

Boomerang managed to gain a rather respectable peak with incredibly poor airplay. Im hoping Your Love does well around Europe which will hopefully get radio 1 back on board. Top 3 would be ideal.

I'm really not expecting Radio 1 to touch this, every single after 'Right There' they've snubbed. :( Hoping for a miracle though!
