Here are descriptions of the shows CBS picked up:

NCIS: New Orleans: The NCIS New Orleans office handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. New Orleans with its rich setting of music, fun, and debauchery is a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble. It is a natural backdrop for a unique character driven spin-off. Cast: Scott Bakula (Special Agent Dwayne Pride); CCH Pounder (Dr. Loretta Wade).

Madam Secretary: About the personal and professional life of a maverick female Secretary of State as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics, and balances a complex family life. Cast: Tea Leoni (Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord); Tim Daly (Henry McCord); Bebe Neuwirth (Nadine Tolliver).

Stalker: Psychological thriller centered around a pair of detectives who handle stalking incidents for the Threat Management Unit of the LAPD. Cast: Maggie Q (Detective Beth Davis); Dylan McDermott (Detective Jack Larsen).

Scorpion: An eccentric genius and his international network of super-geniuses form the last line of defense against the complex threats of the modern age. Cast: Robert Patrick (Agent Cabe Gallo); Eddie Kaye Thomas (Toby); Katharine McPhee (Paige).

The Odd Couple: A half-hour multi-camera comedy pilot based on Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple. Cast: Matthew Perry (Oscar Madison); Thomas Lennon (Felix); Wendell Pierce (Teddy).

McCarthy's: Family comedy about a loud, sports-crazed Boston clan. Single camera. Cast: Laurie Metcalf (Majorie McCarthy); Joey McIntyre (Gerard McCarthy).

No "How I Met Your Dad" yet after reporters jumped the gun yesterday and it wasn't officially picked up...

Ooooh, interesting! I thought CSI was done as a franchise after CBS binned the spin-offs and appeared to have moved it's franchising eggs into the NCIS basket.

A cyber crime CSI could be rather wonderful. I'm a massive fan of the trio.

Come on, Parenthood :please:

‘Parenthood’ Future In Limbo Amid Standoff With Cast

Have we just seen the last of Parenthood? The critically praised NBC family drama had been expected to get one final season to close its run. I hear that is in jeopardy. The plan had been for a 13-episode final chapter, matching the sendoff of another acclaimed but ratings-challenged NBC series, comedy 30 Rock. However, in order to cut costs, I hear the network, which owns the show, has asked the large cast, which features a number of A-listers, to agree to reduce their guarantee to 9 episodes, meaning each cast member would appear in and paid for 9 of the 13 final episodes. I hear the two sides are at an impasse, with some of the main leads balking at the offer with the clock ticking. There is a deadline on the table and, if an agreement is not reached this afternoon, the series may go away. While never a broad show, Parenthood has received a warm reception for five seasons and is shepherded by Jason Katims, who is very well respected at NBC.

Just to add salt to the wound ABC have renewed HUGE SUCCESS Nashville for a third season, so that all but guarantees another two years of that shit. Have fun bagging those 0.9's ABC.

UGH. Guess that shows the importance of being owned by ABC Studios.

(and I wonder how much it can actually make off other stuff like the music/tours??)

I love Nashville! Glad to see it back for 2 seasons!

Defo be a 4 season and out kind of show though. :(

Oh I don't know. I gave up watching as even HATE watching wasn't a good enough reason to continue. I do however watch the final 10 minutes from time to time just for fun because it really is hysterically over the top. I can practically SEE old Connie ripping up her contract as the show gave in to its soapy dark side.
I'm loving Nashville and the drama. The show makes a bucketload off its music though, which is ABC owned. I mean they just had a sold out tour, so, something has to be working. I think S2 has been the best season.

The Mentalist lives! :o CBS have a lot of drama to juggle on the schedule now...

Intelligence and Hostages predictably cancelled along with The Crazy Ones, Bad Teacher and Friends With Better Lives.

It was good to begin with, but it never really moved on from the initial premise and I gave up after episode 9.

Last Man Standing renewed, and ABC picked up Cristela and Fresh Off The Boat

Cristela: In her sixth year of law school, Cristela (Cristela Alonzo) is finally on the brink of landing her first big (unpaid) internship at a prestigious law firm. The only problem is that her pursuit of success is more ambitious than her traditional Mexican-American family thinks is appropriate. She’s stuck straddling the old culture she’s trying to modernize at home with her working-class family and the modern world she’s trying to embrace in her professional career. Breakout comedian Cristela Alonzo stars in this hilarious comedy about laughing your way down the path to the new American dream. “Cristela” stars Cristela Alonzo as Cristela, Carlos Ponce as Felix, Terri Hoyos as Natalia, Andrew Leeds as Josh and Sam McMurray as Trent. “Cristela” is written by Cristela Alonzo and Kevin Hench. Executive Producers are Kevin Hench, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Shawn Levy. “Cristela” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

Fresh off the Boat: It’s the 90s and 12 year old, hip-hop loving Eddie (Hudson Yang) just moved to suburban Orlando from DC’s Chinatown with his parents (Randall Park and Constance Wu). It’s culture shock for his immigrant family in this comedy about pursuing the American Dream. “Fresh Off the Boat” is based on Chef Eddie Huang’s memoir Fresh Off the Boat. “Fresh Off the Boat” stars Randall Park as Louis, Constance Wu as Jessica, Hudson Yang as Eddie, Forrest Wheeler as Emery and Ian Chen as Evan.“Fresh Off the Boat” is executive produced and written by Nahnatchka Kahn and executive produced by Jake Kasdan for 20th Century Fox Television.
